If the punishment for getting found guilty is a fine. He decides not to appeal and he pays it straight away. Is that conviction considered spent?

Don't think so milky, it's still a conviction.

I Presumed so jonty. I thought there was some sliding scale depending on the severity of the sentence, but wasn't sure. Also wasn't sure if it applied to fines rather than jail or suspended sentences.
No chance he could just cough up and take over then!

Radebe.Who owned Leeds before Bates finally said he had bough it out?.And who owns Elland road stadium?.We can put names of businesses in there, but where are the individual peoples names.I remember having a discussion on these boards about if Leeds would be let in the premiership or not because Bates would not reveal who owned the club.

Milkyboy
It is on a sliding scale. It is governed by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. It depends on the severity of offence / punishment. It would be longer for a term of imprisonment than a fine or a community order just as murder is deemed more severe than say speeding...!
The big thing is this, if your conviction is spent that is exactly what it is. It will be assessed as such by anyone deliberating. You may not like that, but that is how it is.

It just seems to me that Jonty does not want Cellini to take over Leeds United. And is making as many arguments he can think of. is he an agent of the football League?

Well let's hope he gets the club and then Jonty can slip off and watch someone else...
That would cure it.
