Just waiting for the court case. They just can't be honest about it can they?
Where have they been dishonest Stoopo?
Most Leeds fans knew in their heart of hearts, that we wouldn't have a decision today. Call it a persecution complex about the way the authorities deal with our club or not, but I'd be interested to hear if there is a precedent with the FL's procrastination. Cellino's court case has presented them with a heaven sent opportunity to drag things out. How much documentation do they have to trawl through FFS? Bunch of shirt fronts, the lot of them, always have been, always will be!
I think what Stoopo means is that he wishes they would have just said from as early as possible "no statement until after the court case".
10 days it is then.
Everyone is tired of the whole thing now. It's frustrating and boring.
I did mean that!
Why can't they just be honest and say they are waiting for the result of the impending court hearing?
It's obviously the only thing they can get him on now.
Good thread, cannot see why it needed duplicating but hey ho...!
There are a couple of points that need raising before we all get tied up in conspiracy theories and the drearies burst a blood vessel.
They have given a detailed consideration to the proposed takeover by Eleanora Sport Ltd. It then goes on to mention proposed purchasers. To me that means the Cellino family not simply Massimo Cellino.
They then say that the majority of outstanding issues have been resolvedto the Leagues satisfaction. An unusual way of commenting if the upcoming issue was such a huge stumbling block.
They then say they anticipate receiving further information on the remaining issues from representatives
So they're not being dishonest at all is what you meant.
Court case is less than 10 days away, FL are making sure they don't get things wrong.
... Of Eleanora in the next week.. Not the court.
IMO the issues are not Massimo Cellino's impending court appearance, but more likely other named people in roles. I reckon Eleanora have got it.
I think you are spot on there Eric.I have said all along , that 65% is owned by the family and the FL cannot do anything about that.Eleonora sport will hold the controlling share, and not Massimo Cellino. They would have to find a reason to refuse Eleonora sport and probably finding it hard to do.
"They would have to find a reason to refuse Eleonora sport and probably finding it hard to do."
So they grant themselves another 10 days to find something
The FL are dragging their heels .... when did any other takeover take as long as this
The FL are dragging their heels .... when did any other takeover take as long as this
.......................................................................
Me as a kid trying to takeover a milk float on my chopper seemed to take forever at the time
Kev, if Cellino is able to influence control over the club he is subject to FL approval, irrespective of his personal shareholding.
I think you'll find that's overtaking unless of course you were trying to Hi Jack it
Innocent till proven guilty and all that ?
Just seems a joke a few quid tax not paid on a yank boat.
Este , Este........This is Leeds United, you got it the wrong way round mate, Guilty until proven innocent
and still guilty when proven innocent
Jonty - they have said ten days to cover the fact that the court case is within that time period.
It's obvious that is what they are waiting for and they could have been honest and stated that.
Maybe their lawyers told them not to mention it but it's obviously the reason.
God knows what will happen if he gets off and the tax man appeals. Or he get gets found guilty and appeals.
I found this from the Guardian...........
"Cellino is in court in Sardinia on Tuesday regarding non-payment of import duty on a yacht and is facing a €1.165m fine if found guilty. The Italian has been under investigation by the governing body since the announcement of his proposed takeover through his holding company Eleonora Sports, with the League investigating whether he passes their "fit and proper persons" test.
That prohibits people with unspent convictions for dishonesty offences from being directors, 30% owners or from exercising control over one of its clubs."
The last sentence seems to apply, but it's strange the FL allow clubs to accept monies to pay the monthly outgoings and help keep a club afloat thereby ensuring that they continue to profit from the club in question.
no wonder Cellino feels humiliated
They are dragging their heels,Highland.Probably just to be vindictive towards Leeds....Sol,I know, but all he has to do is to appear to take a back seat and let the majority shareholders take control. They could make him president or some made up position,or something like that. That's been done before recently.Once he is in it would only take time before he would be in full control.
Stoopo they've not been dishonest at all, I think you're losing the plot mate.
I agree Kev, it certainly seems like it.
Sol, do you want Cellino running Leeds?
Jonty, do you want GFH running Leeds ?
Cellino is probably the only alternative at the moment, although he certainly isn't anyone's "Ideal" owner.
So if he pays the fine end of?
Bit like paying a parking fine, but on a larger scale.
Jonty really don't get your agenda against cellino,
Seems there are no better(or even other options) on the table.

Not really. Assuming it results in an unspent conviction for an offence involving dishonesty, it's pretty different to a parking fine.
What will be will be, I'm not a fan of the FL, or football authorities in general, but it's objective and (to me) perfectly reasonable criteria for someone to fail the Owners and Directors test.
