What is a realistic season for you now?

Ok...you're where you are in the League right now - 7th on 48 points.

That's not so bad, as you have a game in hand over Spurs that if you win it, will take you to 5th on GD ahead of them.

The problem is Everton have games in hand over both you and Spurs. You're way too far behind for 4th..so what would constitute a good end to the season?

5th...that may be tough.
6th..a possibility
7th..probable.

Your games to come are not great either:

West Ham away
City at home...and against your 'biggest' rivals at home you got annihilated.
Villa home..
Newcastle away
Everton away

That's up to the 20th April with 4 games to go.

Spurs on the other hand have 4 of the bottom 7 to play.
Everton have 3 of the bottom 5 to play
Soton have the harder run in.

Therefore, is 5th or 6th a possibility or has yesterday just destroyed what confidence was left?

Has Moyes finally demonstrated against the big boys, that he hasn't the tactical know-how to deal with these teams whilst under the expectations of a job so big? It was OK under Everton, he had no expectations...the argument was always..."no budget"..."doing OK"...

Now, after breaking the transfer record with Mata, who by the way, would get into most teams in Europe, and keeping the same players who won the PL by 11 points last season....is it proving he just isn't up to the Man United expectations...tactically or managerially?

You don't get the CL this season..it's disastrous...not get Europa...that's unforgivable...especially with the players, wages, expectations of your fan base.

we should be aiming to finish as high as possible, i actually think Everton might get 5th with us and Spurs 6th and 7th, but i would like us to get in the Europa League, if you have a season out of europe it fúcks up your ranking points and then when you get back into the CL you end up as 2nd and 3rd seeds in a shít group

Agree with Mex to finish as high as possible and maybe play some of the younger players to give them some experiance.

The Europa actually offers a fair bit to United due to the additional match day revenue, not for the prize money.

In terms of CL, one season out is fine, two isn't as your higher interest repayment kicks in.

Europa is also important for your seedings. United would quite possibly drop out of being top seeds in CL if they missed out on Europa next season, and as City have demonstrated, that can be very tricky.

yeah i think we will be in seed/pot 3 in the CL next year :/

I literally don't expect us to win another game.

Sorry, only just seen you reply.

You think the club's reputation in the transfer market hinges on qualification for the Europa League?

Come on!

You're wrong about having to substitute money for the CL football. That maybe true if the decline continues, but as we stand, Man Utd is a big enough name to attract the best.

CL football or not.

And certainly the Europa League will make no difference whatsoever to that.

Mata springs to mind... we are Man Utd. - we don't need European football to attract players.
