I think we should have guaranteed relegation safety now having hit the 40 point target. If we can avoid being completely humiliated against City and Olympiakos again I'd take that.
"You don't get the CL this season..it's disastrous...not get Europa...that's unforgivable...especially with the players, wages, expectations of your fan base."
Completely wrong.
The club can comfortably sustain it's outgoings with one or two seasons outside the CL.
The Europa League offers very little financially, and I'd be delighted if we don't qualify for it.
Spurs on the other hand have 4 of the bottom 7 to play.
Everton have 3 of the bottom 5 to play

Not always an advantage come the end of the season
I want you to qualify for europa league

Nothing to do with financially....it's the lack of reputation for not being able to offer European football. You have plenty of financial muscle, that's without question. However, not European football may mean having to 'buy and pay' top quality players to come to Old Trafford...something you've really never had to do before. RVP came to win trophies...Rooney no doubt saw the potential for trophies, as did Kagawa, Fellaini, Young, etc....not saying they all have been the best buys...but they came mainly for one thing...guaranteed trophies, European football etc.
Your business will have to change, just like other clubs...therefore, that'll mean paying absolute top whack for players salaries to convince them to come, to off-set them playing in the best tournaments in Europe, therefore, driving up expenditure on salaries...a feat which has lead many clubs down a road that they have had to accept is now the norm.
Rooney's £300k pw will seem small fry compared to the next big contracts that you may have to sign, to get you back on the road to recovery, a top 4 spot, a cup, a decent run in the PL....you've never experienced that before...it's always been on United's terms....no more, if you can't offer what top players want.
Moyes has really taken your club into a place that you've never been before...the PL is a different beast from the early 90's....this summer will be a very interesting time for the board at United. Will players join a team that finished without a European place with Moyes in charge? Your history has been great, but players these days don't care about that...interesting 2 months ahead.
we should be aiming to finish as high as possible, i actually think Everton might get 5th with us and Spurs 6th and 7th, but i would like us to get in the Europa League, if you have a season out of europe it fúcks up your ranking points and then when you get back into the CL you end up as 2nd and 3rd seeds in a shít group
Agree with Mex to finish as high as possible and maybe play some of the younger players to give them some experiance.
The Europa actually offers a fair bit to United due to the additional match day revenue, not for the prize money.
In terms of CL, one season out is fine, two isn't as your higher interest repayment kicks in.
Europa is also important for your seedings. United would quite possibly drop out of being top seeds in CL if they missed out on Europa next season, and as City have demonstrated, that can be very tricky.
yeah i think we will be in seed/pot 3 in the CL next year :/
I literally don't expect us to win another game.

Sorry, only just seen you reply.
You think the club's reputation in the transfer market hinges on qualification for the Europa League?
Come on!
You're wrong about having to substitute money for the CL football. That maybe true if the decline continues, but as we stand, Man Utd is a big enough name to attract the best.
CL football or not.
And certainly the Europa League will make no difference whatsoever to that.
Mata springs to mind... we are Man Utd. - we don't need European football to attract players.
1st - easily within reach for the almighty god that is moyes..
