A good win last night, far from comfortable but a win nonetheless. There were shades of the old United but as the game wore on we began to reexperience the Moyes factor.
Let's be honest if we played a slightly better team, we would have been knocked out which makes me wonder if Moyes can build up on this victory. I personally don't think so. The defensive and cautious approach, inviting pressure with terrible subs (apart from the magic Afro man) towards the end suggests that Moyes is not backing up on his prehistoric ways.
Is it any coincidence that after all this talk of a rift with Giggs that we play him and play in a style similar to what Giggs is used to. Its either Moyes gave into Giggs' methods or was scared of a back fire from senior players. It seems like the rumours were true to a degree.
And if it was a Giggs approach, I'm not surprised the players played with heart. No one seems to play for Moyes. Even Barkley just said he ain't no tactician.
Anyway roll Saturday and see what happens.
Giggs, Moyes and the players.

The Times are also reporting that it was Giggs that shouted at Moyes to bring on Fletcher as the midfield was being overun. Giggs might as well be the new manager.

I've not seen this anywhereis that true? feck me

Surprised that after the Red Issue claims earlier this week, nobody saw this article

I don't tend to read the MEN, it's the worst paper up North and it gets its kicks out of winding up City and United fans.

Hardly on the wind up here though is it?
Still, although you say you don't read it, I'm sure you must have seen it reference somewhere?
I just think it is sad how all the negative bullshít gets articles and anything like this gets blown over. Like everyone chooses to believe some made up crap over other made up crap to suit their agenda.

I think we surrendered the initiative after the third goal and did not know whether to stick or twist really. Together with a few flagging players. A substitution was needed and actually it was not an easy call to make really but I guess Giggsy should have been replaced. Welbeck looked quite tired to me and Valencia obviously had a nasty eye and also seemed to be flagging. I don't personally think the subs were that bad as the game was delicately poised. He obviously didn't trust Kagawa in that situation. He seemed to rely on experience last night with Giggs, Rio both playing and then bringing Fletch on.

Of course I saw it but I didn't pay attention to it, I'm studying to be a journalist and I only trust certain papers. The Guardian, Times and sometimes the Telegraph are the only papers I pay attention to

And Red Issue?
You have proved my point, selectively paying attention only to articles which suit your line of thinking. It's fair enough, part of human nature

There is no truth in the bust ups...there is an agenda like there usually is with the media in this country, be it political or in this case anti Moyes. All the stuff in the summer about Rooney Moyes said was rubbish when asked and he has been proved right. All the stuff with RVP is probably made up and now the bust up with Giggsy. Don't believe what you read I say. Vidic has said he is leaving not because of Moyes. The players who are probably most unhappy are Chicharito and Kagawa as they have not had much of a look in despite our team performing abysmally, so they probably rightfully have grievances

Well said, this is exactly how I see it too. What gets me is that some posters on here choose to believe some things ("oh the Times is really reliable", they say) and discount other things ("that particular journalist at the Times is crap and doesn't know what he's talking about".
As I said, people believe what they want to.

I am not saying I believe all that I read. It may be rubbish or not but at the end of the day, there is no smoke without fire. The same way people that have worked under Moyes have said he is up to the job while the more recent ones say otherwise. I personally don't think he is the man for us and everything that is happening is pointing to that.

I think people just say things and rewrite history a little, distorting the truth. I mean look at some of the things Fergie has said, the inaccuracies in his book. His first book slagging off Kidd etc even though he was an important part in the success. In this day and age of endless instant media reaction, speculation and information, misinformation, it is easy for people to take the bait etc. and believe everything they are fed. We should take things with a pinch of salt until they are proved otherwise.
I do agree Dich that Moyes probably won't turn it around. Not much evidence to suggest it's likely. His two buys just don't fit in either.
