Not too sure why Marriner came out to apologise yesterday. I'm not saying he shouldn't apologise, but he needs to show some consistency. Sure, the guy sent off the wrong player, which is an absolutely stupid error, but the fact was that it was still a red card and a penalty.
However, Andre Marriner, the same man who incorrectly sent off Rose in our game VS City at WHL which was neither a penalty nor a red card didn't feel it was necessary to apologise to Spurs. That red card was much more game changing and was punishing an amazing tackle, rather than punishing the wrong player for blatant cheating.
Am I just being biased towards Spurs here or does any one agree?

That's not really my point. Why is it necessary for him to apologise for sending off the wrong guy, but fine if he incorrectly awards a penalty and red card when it should have been nothing?

Because decisions like Rose are made week in week out. You don't see every ref coming out and apologising. However this is very rare and he obviously felt like he's done a very big blunder.

I would be falling on my sword for that shocker yesterday, not apologising.

The Lino can advise the ref but it's still the refs choice to give it. They both f'd up.
It's a worse blunder to give away a penalty and red card for a great tackle than to send off the wrong guy for blatant cheating...

It's not fine that he didn't apologise for the spurs incident, it's not even fine that he apologised for his screw up yesterday, he's clearly inept, makes poor snap decisions.

It wasn't a red card though, he didn't stop a goal or deny a goal scoring opportunity. So it should only be a yellow and a pen!
