A step in the wrong direction???

Tonights display brought mixed emotions and the response on this forum seems to confuse me even further. When you draw at home with 26% posession against opponents 4 years earlier whom you held 50-50% posession against in their backyard, how can anyone credit the tactician? I want to be optimistic like every other man united fan but i also have a pair of eyes and some sort of a brain, not much to be fair!
Parking the bus is not synonymous with manchester united, it is the band-aid baby of a man looking to stop the wave of abuse and criticism coming his way. So lets call it what it was, a cop out. They came to play and moyes came to stop himself getting fired. The 11+ he sent out were pawns in his game. Watching them tonight didnt make me feel revived like some people suggest, it made me sad because our one chance for silverware this season has gone, and that drivel wont cut the mustard back in munich.

I think Man utd are first side in like a year to stop Bayern Munich winning away.

October was the last time they failed to win away.

A proud performance Op. Proud of the boys and the manager did the best he could with the resources available to him. Apart from that, there is nothing much that can be said about that performance. We could not string three passes together in that first half. We hoofed the ball and Welbeck chased after it. The whole team defended as a unit and on the whole were sound. Attacking wise, nothing to shout about.

Have to agree with the OP.
I have watched utd since the late fifties, and never have I seen our team adapt these tactics,on an ongoing basis. Utd for me represented, the continuum of the Busby babes achievements in the areas of, flair,
skill, teamwork, belief, attitude, pride, but to mention a few. However since Fergie has stepped down, it is quite evident during games that these essential player characteristics are no longer in play. How has this happened? Lack of respect for the manager?, Lack of respect for the club? Lack of respect for fellow players?
Who let this happen in such a short period of time?

We played these tactics with Fergie to.

We don't have the players to go toe to toe, we haven't for a long time.

Fabio Borini I believe it was for the champions league. Crazy record.

It's hard when you can't get the ball, players did well to keep concentration and discipline, can become demoralising playing against that, having said that we had a legit goal chalked off

This is the Bayern that turned up at City and destroyed them for large parts of the game.

Like it or not, we're not in their league.

That isn't Moyes' fault, and he did a good job in setting the team up to get a result - which is ultimately his aim.

Sorry but it's neen a few seasons now. Not just this season.

For example, do you not remember Southampton, Yes, Southampton pinning is back at Old trafford not long back?

Fergie had adopted a tactic of sitting 10 yards off the opposition for a while now and any team that pressed us (Wigan 2 seasons ago) we utterly struggled with it.

Then a couple of weeks later, remind me how we set up against City?
