Strachan played until he was 38yrs old.
Not sure why folk keep bringing age into everything, doesn't mean anything.

Middles,so lets go sign a bunch of mid thirty yearolds then?
Fitness levels from now and then are not the same, even players like linekar say it.

Why is Barton up as a topic for discussion? Have I missed something?
To answer the original post:
No. Overrated, over ego'd, over aged headcase! For that reason, I can see why some Leeds fans would want him. I'm not one of them!

Is he not a trouble causer even outside off football!..
Where Vinnie was hard and liked a bit off agro, atleast he had the decency to leave it on the pitch!..
Barton, one player I wouldn't be bothered about getting his leg broke!..
"Strachan played until he was 38yrs old."
Midds, did he not eat some funny weird stuff they say kept him that bit fitter!..
Love to know what it was, I feel I'd need rather a lot of it!.

Stevie/Middleton ............. I get the Vinnie Jones comparison, like others though i'm just not sure the additional baggage he'd (potentially) bring with him would be worth the risk.
Purely as a footballer he's way ahead of anything we have right now. If he can be controlled outside of the ground, then perhaps he could be an asset.
How old is he now ????

Vinnie Jones was a better player than Barton and more importantly a team player. Barton considers himself, Vinnie considered the team.
Howard Wilkinson saw him as a cog in the machine.
That's what we should be looking for.

No comparison there for me, Barton isn't a hardman at all.
