So who do we take out?

I've seen all of these article saying who we're gonna bring, but for me, I'm more concerned with who we're gonna take out. There isn't one player who has been around the first 11 on a constant basis this year who I can honestly say has let us down. If there's one thing that this season has taught me, it's that you don't need 5/6 world class players to achieve greatness. We've fought the likes of City and United, filled with League/European winners, and yet we've beaten and currently stand on top of them with 4 games to go. This team is doing well due to the character and the IMO world class manager behind them. I don't care what Rodgers has or hasn't won yet, I dare someone to tell me that this man won't get us challenging for trophies again. It's not about the players, it's about the team.

Bearing that in mind, who actually will be taken out of this squad? A £40m striker is out of the question. We are blessed to have SAS and moving them to one side to bring someone else will do more harm than good. And vice versa as to say bringing in a top talent to sit on the bench for those 2 will be more hassle/wages than it's worth.

A left back could be in order, but is that really fair on Enrique who is 28? We've got enough cover for full back with Johnson, Flanagan, Sakho at least for another year (I think we're gonna have to sell Kelly. Pains me to say it, but he's 25 next year, and his injuries really have stopped his career. Shame really)

A centre back could be on the cards but where does that leave Ilori who is still young and doing amazingly in La Liga. Sakho will be here for years to come and Skrtel has warranted another contract IMO. Agger behind those 2 would be enough for CL if he were to stay.

Midfield? Gerrard in this new role could keep going for another 3/4 years IMO. The likes of Allen and Coutinho have all done their job when asked. A winger may be needed due to the only real wide man we have is Sterling, but that would mean making room by benching either S or S or Coutinho and reverting to a formation that we may not be accustom to.

This isn't an article saying we can compete in the CL with this squad. We can't. But I'm just thinking that with the players we've got, they do look a real good bunch. Maybe we could build from the bottom up as opposed to starting from the top, bring players into the first XI straight away and degrading the likes of Coutniho/Sterling/Flanagan who have been phenomenal this season.

We need several players.

A left back is a definite IMO.

A keeper is possible as further cover.

A centre back is possible if we sell one.

A right back is probably unlikely now unless Johnson leaves, due to Flan being so good.

At least one centre mid is likely.

At least one wide player is likely.

A striker is possible if Aspas and/or Borini leave.

I would say we are looking at anything from 3-7 arrivals.

Giroud??

Would rather we keep Borini and have him on the bench

What we definitely have lacked this season, even with a fully fit squad, is attacking options off the bench.

Luckily because our starting 11 attack is so good we haven't needed to call on the likes of Moses/Aspas off the bench to get us a goal.

Having the likes of Lucas/Allen coming off the bench to change formation has been very useful and has been our main weapon.

Would like to see us go after a real top quality left back, it may be expensive but a long term option will definitely be worth the money. Another striker would help, but if not keep Borini.. has shown enough this season in his loan spell that he can be useful for us.

Another centre mid I think is essential. Gerrard will not be able to play three games a week while the Champions League is gone, he will need to be carefully rotated unlike Hendo who will probably still play everygame because he is a machine.

As Neo says, we need someone on the bench who can come off it and make a real difference, otherwise why would they be on the bench in the first place?

Brendan got the job because he said he would recruit and develop from within, for the club to be almost, almost self-sufficient in the coming years, in total contrast therefore to City and Chelsea. And Real and Barca. And PSG. And then develop to a stage where LFC can spank the ar se off of each of the aforementioned Sugar Daddy clubs.

That's Brendan's plan for the future of the club. It's so obvious that even I can see that.

Yes that's right, I speak to the guy every day. Just check out what John Hendry himself said about that same subject.

Poor wee thing.
