Ancelotti

A lot of United fans on here and in general seem to prefer Ancelloti as our next manager if he is available. Now I am not saying he's not a top class manager as he has a great European record but his domestic league record isn't outstanding. He only won one Serie A title with Milan in 8 years with a squad of wonderful players at their peak such as Shevchenko, Pirlo, Kaka Gattuso and Nesta and experienced but still top players such as Maldini and Cafu. Ok he won the title at Chelsea but they had easily the best squad in the league that year and still only won by a point after we had thrown away some silly points. His title at PSG was pretty much a gimme. Now I'm not saying for one second I would disappointed by his appointment but would he be the man to get us back to the top of the domestic league which is where we all really want to be?

TRS, me neither. More a point of academic interest.

Difference with Mourinho's sides though is that on paper they are strongest 95% of the time given the amount of money his squads cost.

GeoffArsenal (when you have finished laughing hysterically), I think you'll find that most United fans are realistic enough to believe Ancelotti would only be an option if he were victim of Real Madrid's annual sack the manager fiesta.

No, LVG. Comment just came after a number inbetween.

If you want a Chelsea fan input my theory with Carlo is he is good until your team need rebuilding.

09-10 every player hit form, Carlo gave them freedom and we won the title playing great football, the next season a lot of players stagnated, the team started to slide and he just simply didn't know how to fix it.

So given your squad needs major rebuilding i would say Carlo is amoung the last of the top managers you need right now, the club that would suit him most right now would be City.

Why hasn't Hiddink been mentioned? top top manager and would reduce some of them egos down in that dressing room

Josh, Hiddink is already signed up to take over from LVG after the WC. I think he's done with managing club sides now. Great manager though.

Oh fair enough then, looks like LVG is the new man at Man U then.

The timing does look right for Van Gaal tbh after what we have read up on him

If he had directly followed Fergie though.... I shudder to think

Moyes has made the next manager's job infinitely easier
