why so much praise???

Chelsea park the bus against Atletico and Liverpool and they get so much praise from the press and from tv pundits and neutral football fans as well, when United did it against Bayern (for the one all draw at home) the best team in Europe,i dont remember getting any praise at all,we were slammed for it,we were hit with so many statistics constantly reminding us how many attacks, shots, ball possession Bayern had, i think Chelsea were a disgrace against both Atletico and Liverpool,i`d never want Mourihno at United

Mourinho wouldn't manage a mid table trash team like United anyway so I wouldn't worry!

Good for you, I'd have him in a shot.

Difference? He gets results. He went to pls form side and got a win.

And has put his team in the stronger position going at home.

He's in a results business and he gets them.

Stretty, didn't you used to complain about the quality of the football when Fergie was busy winning things in his last few years? What makes you think Mourinho's brand would make you happier?

Because I don't think mourinho teams play as badly as people are lead to believe.

His first Chelsea team were great to watch.

The man is a winner, pure and simple. His priority will always be to win but he has also over the years built and managed some entertaining football. This is his first season back, he clearly wanted a striker but couldn't get one as well as having key players missing yesterday. When at full strength I'm sure Chelsea will play some entertaining stuff, with players like Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Schurrle and most likely a top new striker they have the players to do so.

People who say they hate Jose are completely missing the point, he's such an entertainer, whether he's the villain or good guy he is so much fun to have around.

Also I don't remember United getting much stick for their tactics against Bayern? Everyone knew who the better team were and Moyes actually did ok in the first leg. I think it was more a case of it being sad that this is the level United are at right now.

Did you see his interview after the game? "Jamie Redknapp is a brilliant football brain."

Say want you like about Jose, but he's a serial winner, wherever he's been he's won things.

And anybody who thought he would come out and attack Liverpool and Madrid at home is a barmpot of the highest order. His weakened team beat Liverpool and got a draw in the other game; trophies don't get handed out for pretty football, ask Arsen Wenger, he knows all about that.

Football is about entertainment, but it's also about winning, Liverpool have played some great football this season, but they've not had the CL to deal with and for all the nice football they could end up with nothing, so might Chelsea but Jose set out his team to stifle pool and like it or not that's exactly what he did. You might not like it by he achieved exactly what he set out to, so who's the tactical genius here? Rodgers or Jose?

I hear you. I do get your point, but don't you think there might be a bit of a 'grass is greener' element involved?

Mourinho's the ultimate 'negator' in football. He knows better than anyone how to stifle the opposition's threat, but on the flip side he isn't imo a great entertainer in terms of football played. I think this can be seen in the number of points dropped against lower table sides when the team is expected to be on the front foot. The football can often be dull and uninspiring because there is only so much room for the more imaginative brand of footballer.

Would you have been more tolerant with Mourinho setting up the way he did against Atletico than with how Moyes set up against Bayern for example, because that's what you could expect when you came up any side deemed 'too strong' for you? As a Madrid fan, it's extremely painful to see us set up at home the way we did against Barça in the CL semis 3 years ago. Imo, there's no excuse for conducting yourself in such an undignified manner when you've spent 100s of millions to supposedly entertain the fans.

People would be more tolerant of Mourinho setting up that way as opposed to Moyes as Mourinho ultimately gets results.

And Mourinho's teams have also been far more entertaining to watch than Everton have been under Moyes.

Fergie was setting up similarly to what Mourinho would have done for the last few years and our football wasn't particularly inspiring, but we got results so people were more forgiving of the shiite style of play, Moyes wasn't and would never be able to wield similar results to what Mourinho or Fergie are capable of playing that way so it can't be justified.

I agree spot on everyone thinks defending with that many men is easy honestly its not concentration and work rate is a must for 90 minutes if anyone falls asleep for a second BANG a goal and remember only had couple of days to sort his team out after Madrid game hes a beast Jose is wow !!!!
