ended up a magnificent 5th.
46pld w22 - d11 - l 13 - +22 77pts. (early season away form was very poor !)
Top scorer...That Man GREGORY
30 ! (1 in FA Cup)
Maynard 7
Wilson 7
Roberts 5.
So there's the contenders . One of whom will be fortunate enough to Join Luton Town back in the football league proper
in Effect, Cambridge United v Halifax Town .
& Gateshead v Grimsby Town.
of the four, Cambridge would be worried about current form having lost the last 4 !!!!
Gateshead are on a roll ! 7 wins & 3 draws in the last 10 played...however, that will make for a nervy last 3 games....Not many sides go 13 games without the odd defeat..can increasing Geordie support carry them through.
Grimsby. a steady finish up to now. Good, above average support at this level..But couldn't beat TOWN this season 4-0 & 1-0 advantage to the Shaymen They might find it hard to get past Gateshead ?
The Shaymen ... Not beaten Cambridge United this season
Lost 5-1 in the very 1st game of the season..having to play fully 69 minutes with 9 men, after 2 Town players had been sent off.
The 1-1 draw at the Shay in January indicates Town can be more than a match for this side..especially taking into account Cam Uniteds recent form.
You literally can't just turn on the style at the flick of a switch..
anyway . we'll see.
OK fellow SHAYMEN give us your views.
Who do you think will succeed. Who will stumble .
dare we say it , "Set 'em alight the Blue & White"
HALIFAX TOWN 1-0 Cambridge United

LV & Myself spoke of this very subject the other day.
What is it with these mascots ?
They are embarrassing in the extreme.
Could you imagine the Yellow Wall in Dortmund putting up with such nonsense.
It's time these 'ideas' and the clowns who think them up are given the contempt they deserve...
But !
Who are the so called 'authoritative' people who then endorse these mad cap ideas are good
The game is becoming more Septic tank-ified by the season.
garbage.

Missed the match last night, but recorded it, is it worth watching back?
On the result itself, absolutely delighted, sets it up for a good match on Sunday now. Be interesting to see how the other 2 get on tonight.

Absolutely Ken
I've seen it twice already
Obviously the 1st time was the emotion charged 'live' version (yes, I got up )
The 2nd viewing I was more realistic, and do you know what, I really thought both sides made a real good game of it.
Sure there's plenty of mistakes.
But these players weren't afraid to get the ball forward at every opportunity & have a go.
I'm a bit nervous about the 2nd leg. Cam United are a good side..but as I said earlier, Halifax only need a draw.... I Know, I know 'only'... but it's better than having to go & seek a win, which is what it would have been without the Goal.
GREGORY 4 ENGLAND
I'd be down at the Manor ground on Sunday of I was there..it'l be a right good day out.
rather bizarre. The game was on 'live' last night.
Grimsby v Gateshead isn't being shown at all ???
& the return 2nd leg..Cam v Fax is going to be shown a full 5 & a half hours after the game has finished
Why ?
I have no idea.
If they make the final, I am seriously going to tap the wife up for the airfare...... local born Halifax lad.
If I can't be bothered to turn out for them, why would anyone else that's my logic on it anyway
She'll go ape sheet if she sees this,

Duzza's going down South on Saturday and making a weekend of it, and who can blame him, the feeling after making a playoff final is thrilling, although the pitch invasions should be stopped, after all the jobs only half done!
The other tie is also finely balanced, so no nothing is decided yet, looking forward to the 2nd legs.

Bizarre programme scheduling !
The GrimGate fixture was on .....but at 10:45 am our time ????
That aside.
I'm a bit more worried now. I thought that was a more skillfull game with two better teams last night
Seemed a bit quicker in the thought process dept.
I agree though mate. & I'm too looking forward to the 2nd legs. You couldn't give 'FC' a nudge for a run down & opinion could you ?

Big game tomorrow. Hope Town do the job still know a few of the lads at the Shay. Be going to Wembley with a lad I played with in the youth team last year if they get there.
