Should we consider Poyet?

After the job he's done at Sunderland he should be considered.

They're as good as safe now, thanks to recent good form against the big teams (if only we knew what that felt like). It reminds me of Wigan under Martinez the way they pulled out some great results against the top teams to pull them to safety, and like Wigan last season they reached a Cup final. It was only thanks to a Toure worldy that City got back into that game and eventually won.

I like Poyet. He has history with Spurs, he's done well against the big teams, he's got the best out of players who were once no-hopers like Wickham and Borini. Why not?

Under Poyet Sunderland have:

Reached their first final for 22 years

Done the double over Newcastle

Beaten City

Beaten Everton away

Beaten Chelsea twice home and away

Avoided relegation

Sherwood says anyone who hasn't played in the premier league cannot have an opinion!

Really poor in interviews or been told he has blown any chance of getting the job

I like Gus as well Spurtle and to be honest, anyone but Sherwood. More than anything though, I want to know soon.

Poyet is an interesting option, however would like to know exactly what happened at Brighton!

No doubt about his football knowledge and ability & certainly a vast improvement on Sherwood.

My preference is still any one from Benitez, Pochettino & due Boer.

Poyet would be a decent option as he has greater knowledge of English football than De Boer or Pochettino, but it is all a bit moot given that the other parts of the machine are broken:

Chairman: the second it looks like top 4 is off the manager is sacked. Or you finish 4th but were 3rd earlier in the season. Signing on 31 August because it saves a few quid.

Supporters: sh...ocking atmosphere at the lane every fortnight (don't blame the football it was the same under 'arry)

DoF: less so, given he has been here under a year, but lots of his signings need a strong second season.

Stadium: Ou est la stadium?

Whoever gets the job, to be a success they need time and all of the above to suddenly turn 180°.

whatever
