Well. As the curtain draws on another season, it's another case of '' what might have been ''. As i stood from my seat in B Block yesterday. Watching on as Brighton fans and players celebrated. It just made me think how the game had mapped out our season. Impressive start. Lack of cutting edge mid way through. And a very poor ending. There's no doubt that injuries have hindered us. However, even with a fully fit side. There was still quite a few poor results.
Yeovil, Bournemouth, Doncaster, Millwall .... all sides we really should of been putting away, we ended up dropping points against in the earlier stages of the season. An inconsistent run, between October & just before christmas - left me thinking that we was building. Not the finished article. But still progress was good. Considering we had such a good christmas period. Then took that momentum into the new year ( West Ham, Blackburn, Watford etc ). It left us in with a real chance of making the top two, A smashing win at Hudds on a tuesday in late February, without Hobbs, Wilson & lansbury i may add. Left me thinking that there was enough cohesion in the squad to fill the gaps and plug on through, intill we could start getting the real quality back into our team.
Then Billy stepped in with his '' second team '' comments. And the loss of Lansbury, Vaughan & Reid in a 3 week period really killed it. Yes - losing them players was a huge blow. But i still believe that, with the right motivation. Billy still could of made more out of the players we still had. Obviously the 5 - 0 humiliation at PP was the final straw for Billy. You've also got to say, it was probably the final straw in our season too. The two home defeats by Charlton & Millwall were lacklustre, indecisive & just not good enough. I'm not sure the players even wanted it anymore by that stage. Regardless of who was out injured at the time. In the weeks that followed, there was still more than enough in that side to go out and beat Doncaster, Millwall, Sheff Wed & Charlton on trentside. Barnsley away to boot. I did not buy into this '' so in so's out. So that's why we've lost '' mentality.
After all of that. There's no doubting ( as stated ) that injuries prevented us from promotion this year. But i also think the players who did play, and the club in general. Should all take responsibility for the complete capitulation in the final 3 months of the season. As for Pearce? I have my reservations. But i'm also very excited. Fawaz must give the new man TIME. We've said it on countless occasions since the Al Hasawi's took over, but another step in the road to success - is that the club needs stability. We was certainly not getting that with BD. The road show all became too much in the end. So i'd be lying if i said i wasn't glad to see the back of the scot. Fawaz must go to Pearce & say ..... '' You have 3 years to get this club to the Premier League. I'll help & support you as much as i can. ''. Fawaz has got to stop this knee jerk decision making. Appoint a CEO. The better a clubs run. The more on the field success i feel we'll get. That's me done for the summer anyway.
See you all next year. Keep the faith.
13/14 antics, & where we go from here

It was 5-0 at the I-pro, not the PP.
I never say 1-2 with 10 men at the City Ground so you keep it straight as well.

Hoping that McGovern may have a steadying influence on Fawaz as he appears to be listening to him. The addition of a decent CEO would hopefully also create a more settled atmosphere at the club with things hopefully running smoothly again.

Yes you had a few injuries, but you also had a big squad. The question to you is,,, is it better a have a large squad of individuals or a small team? Burnley have a small squad and are promoted, we are in the end of season lottery and finished 3rd with one of the smallest squads in the championship. Could Fawaz kept his phone in his pocket instead of tweeting all the time, was Billy boy the wright man? Non-payment of depts could have played its part. Your failure is not just down to injuries.

Yes you had a few injuries

Pretty much the first 11 plus a few more. Hardly "a few injuries"

Club football is endlessly fascinating and it's great to go over the minutiae of the games your club has played. Long may it be so. But in the case of Forest's season there's only one detail of importance and that is the hiring of Billy. 99% of Derby fans knew this and told you but as messengers of doom, they were treated with complete disdain.
Now you see it. Billy is the reason why your season went belly-up. I recognise a lot of what went off. Whilst Billy was taking Derby to the PL it was possible to ignore the many worries his style caused to many fans. However, as soon as he became obsessed with his contract of employment, rather than re-building and preparing the squad as he should have been doing - it was obvious we had problems with our manager. The result was the lowest number of PL points in history. There is no getting away from the fact it was ALL BILLY'S FAULT.
Well, at least he won't work again as a football manager.

Someone on another thread just told me Derby fans weren't obsessed with Billy.

SHH.
Not obsessed. Just hate what he did to Derby County. But time and success on the field are great healers.
However,
a. We did warn you Forest fans
b. So did Billy with his behaviour towards Nigel Doughty
c. You have discovered his weaknesses for yourselves now but it's not necessarily worked out yet. There is re-building to be done and FFP to face.

😞 wake me up when they stop obsessing over Davies, will you?...
