So, the season is over and everyone is reflecting on the previous 9 months or so. Simple question, was this season really that bad?
I see a lot of people on here saying that Freedman should be sacked, we have not been good enough and some even saying that they won't renew their season ticket next year. Really?
We've got to look at what our expectations were at the beginning of the season. Did we really think we would get promoted this year? Did we think we would be close? For me, this past season has been a transition season for us. I think this was clear from the start of the season where Freedman was trying to get anyone to take a few players off our hands. It was quite obvious that Freedman was not happy with the playing squad at that time. Now that we have 3 top earners off the wage bill, I think finally DF is finally going to be able to build a team and one that can compete in this league. It seems that he knows what he wants and he has gone and got it nice and early in terms of playing personnel. 75% of incoming deals are already done. Isn't that a nice change?
I think this season was always going to be a struggle. Our poor manager has been working with people that he doesn't want to work with and that don't want to work with him. I, for one and happy that at least he realises that some people are being paid far too much around here and he has done something about it. At least, financially it seems we are taking steps in the right direction.
I can't believe all the doom and gloom on here at the moment. I'm excited for next season.
Was it that bad?

Seems like Eaves will be usurped by the newer talent in Clough, Iliev and Youngs.
If Coventry, who were reportedly interested, come in for him then we'd best snap their hands off. Even if it is for 57p and a promise of a go of their sister.

Eaves just not good enough. You can keep loaning him out but hes never going to come back a good enough player for the championship. Time to cut the ties.

And it says he as another 2 yrs on his contract.
Just how long a contract did he get?.

Df gave eaves a 3 year contract last summer. Coyle signed him in 2010 and 4 years he has not developed. To me he is a tryer but just not skilful enough. A bit like me in that respect.

Then again Adam Bogdan wasn't deemed worthy of playing for Crewe when he went on loan there a while back - playing 1 rather iffy 1st team match.
It may all boil down to the team about him and other factors but still the general feeling is cut losses.

Interesting point. Eaves either comes back and trains with the 1st team squad or be sold. There is just no point in him going out on loan again.

I think we have that much tripe on good money, nobody's going to take them.My opinion us that Eaves is a donkey, will never make it.

Interesting point about Bogdan's loan to Crewe. I think Eaves needs to come back and train with the first team, if by January he isn't making any sort of in roads on the match day squad then is the time to cut our losses and sell. As much as I have some misgivings about Dougie, I'd rather him make his own mind up on Eaves based on what he has seen rather than what other clubs tell him, if only because it sends the message to the other youngsters that they won't be condemned based on one bad loan spell.

There really is a point in loaning him out. If we can get any team to fund his wages or even some of them, it's worthwhile. That is of course if Dougie doesn't decide to keep him at the Macron and let let him sit on his arris for two years.
We can always hope that some silly manager comes in for him.

I think Eaves has had more chances than Bogdan whilst on loan. I simply don't think he's a championship striker..
Next season will see Davies & Sordell return and in front of him, together with Beckford & hopefully another.
Should either of the returnees from loan leave, I'm not sure Eaves is the answer...
