Current promotion/relegation system

Is everyone else happy with the relegation/promotion system or would anyone else like to see something like some european leagues to make it a bit more interested?

E.g. where the 3rd from bottom would play the 3rd in the championship say at wembley and the winner stays or goes up to the PL and the loser stays or goes down to the championship?

Or alternatively a minor tweak where the playoffs become 1 leg and the team who finishes highest would get the home draw e.g. 3rd and 4th.

As at the moment it just seems 3rd = 4th = 5th = 6th, there's no real advantage and it's a bit stupid when Derby finished like 20 pts clear of 6th yet have no advantage.

Dark the play off final is the most lucrative game in football. Though that's more Sky hyperbole than amything imo. Technically it's true but it's presented in a misleading way. You don't get handed 60 million for winning the one off match. The 60 million is what you stand to earn over the course of the following season should you go up to the PL through tv money etc

Playoffs are not fair, but it makes the league much more entertaining

Playoffs between promoted/relegated teams are patently unfair, if there is a significant difference in income between the two leagues.

The only sport I've watched regularly that practices this is Finnish ice hockey. Here the champion of the lower division must play off against the bottom of the upper league.

However because of the disparity between the two leagues there has been a successful promotion in well over a decade x

Decide relegation with a dance-off

I love the play-offs.

It's pure football drama.

Everyone knows the score at the start of the season so their can be no complaints if a team finished 3rd by miles but loses. They knew what they signed up for and weren't good enough for top 2, then had their chance to prove it in the play-offs too.

If they can't cope with the high pressure play-off scenario then how are they doing to cope with the added attention and pressure of PL football?

Would love to see a champions league place play off.

I know it would be tough on the teams and IMO unfair but it would be great entertainment.

Arsenal v Man United
Everton v Spurs .....
..... Well you get the gist of it.

They need to stop handing out trophies to play-off winners....whats that all about?
Trophy for not being quite good enough?

The play offs keep the season alive till the end, for teams as far down as tenth or twelfth. This keeps the league competitive. And interesting for far many more fans.

I would scrap the play-offs.
If a team finishes in a promotion position after a long season of 46 games, why should it then have to play three more games against teams who finished below them?
Similarly, if a team can't prove its worth over 46 games, then it must wait till the next season.
I don't buy the 'keeps the season alive' or the 'gives more teams a chance' arguments.
Can you imagine asking the PL to change to a system of two down automatically and next three or four from bottom go into a play-off system to decide the third relegation place? You can't? I can't either.
So what's the difference between that and asking the four Championship clubs to play off for the third promotion place?
Don't bother answering, I'm not interested.
