First Mistake- keeping Giggs

The best player rarely make top coaches, the reason?

They are a bunch of premadonna's who have had their backsides kissed their entire careers, their expectations are too high, they are unused to failure. Griggs will think because he was a great player he knows best.

And most modern top players are arrogant so and so's with scant regard or respect for their fans, and giggsy is Mr Arrogant.

LVG should have insisted he had his marching orders because Giggs will be a millstone around his neck! LVG would have set down a marker, he is the boss not someone who has an over the hill player with no managerial experience as his number 2.

Although non ManU fans will enjoy the car crash.

If it was up to Redastomatoes, the name 'Manchester United' would be changed because it sounds too much like what we were called under Fergie.

Giving someone the job just because of his longstanding relationship with the club and with no regard to his actual qualifications would be madness.

Denying someone the job just because of his longstanding relationship with the club and with no regard to his actual qualifications would also be madness.

Just maybe Giggs , observed up close by people who know a lot better than we do (possibly including LvG), looks to have the raw materials to be a great manager.

What are your reasons for this claim OP?

I agree with him. Fergies shadow needs to be gone. We all know this. I bet you anything if van Gaal ever had a problem in the ranks, Giggs will have a hand in it. There is a desperate need to let go.

-------------------------------------

You may be exaggerating the potency of Fergie's shadow. LvG doesn't sound at all overawed. He talks as if he just about deins to acknowledge Fergie as an equal. As if he'll enjoy catching up with an old acquaintance from time to time. Meanwhile, a number of the old guard will be gone (Ferdinand, Vidic), a number will be chastened after a calamitous season, probably not that many of the Class of 92 will be around, and not in senior coaching positions. I don't see what power base Giggs is going to exploit, even assuming he is going to be anything other than loyal, professional and eager to learn from the master. Which isn't an assumption I would make given that his best chance of taking the top job is to finish the apprenticeship with flying colours.

Exactly. All this wanting to clear away our most successful era is ridiculous. Giggs will either fail or coem through with flying colors but he should be a great help to LVG and enable a smoother transition than Moyes who dismissed everyone more or less

You'll not succeed whilst Fergies cronies are in the dressing room.

Keep them all please.

Look, we are in a destroy to rebuild position right now. Giggs is an assistant, not just a crony. Do you think he would stand still while what he has known for years get torn down?

People here live in real worlds were a change in leadership means tow-kowing or leaving. Will he shut up and follow the new manager? Especially one as explosive as like Van Gaal? This is an all or nothing time. Giggs is never going to be "van gaal's man". If everything goes belly up, I bet you anything Giggs will rise out of the ashes again as "caretaker/legend who should get a chance". He wont face the responsibilities of the failures just as he did not face them with Moyes.

Also, the truth of the matter is also something people keep on ignoring. His qualifications as a coach is flimsier than the highly mocked Phil Neville. But he is legend! Its the same reason he has been playing in our midfield and now seems most likely to manage united.
