Time for an overhaul

Looking at the success we've just had, and what we're now going to be hoping for going forward, we'll need reinforcements if we are to succeed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ungrateful for our cup win, I'm overjoyed. But when you reach success, why stop?

Further to reinforcements, we'll also need replacements for players who may be departing or should be allowed to leave, and even though we have won silverware, there may be a few. So here are my options:

Right back: These Sagna rumours are growing and there have been whispers of his unrest since last summer. If Cesc and Adebayor are anything to go by, there's always truth in rumour, so we need another right back - and unless Jenko makes that final step to top quality player, maybe two. My favoured options would be Debuchy, Coleman, Joao Pereira, in that order. I would say Zabaleta but he'd never leave City, and Maggio, though I like him, is getting on a bit.

Centre mid: I like Arteta but I've never thought of him as a gritty player. Besides, he's 32 and we need to look at future proofing. Diaby will probably never, ever be fit again, but his rangy presence is what we need. Inler, Gundogan and Khedeira (unlikely) would be my suggestions, although I wouldn't sniff at having Cesc back either...

Forward: I hate to think of Podolski leaving but the word is growing. Even if he doesn't, Wenger doesn't play him as a striker, Giroud can't be trusted as an out-and-out goalscorer, Theo doesn't always get time up front, and the less said about never-scoring Yaya "So, no go?" and Bendtner the better. Gignac, Remy, and even Ciro Immobile in Serie A could all be good options, as could Lukaku - who Chelsea will no doubt now value at an arm, a leg, and another appendage of their choosing.

Backup keeper: Sadly, I believe our cup hero Fabianski will leave for first team football and who can blame him? I think we either need someone to seriously compete with Szczesny for the starting place as well as act as our cup and potentially Europe keeper, which Fabianski did this year, or get an experienced ex-international or veteran with enough miles left to do a job. Option A would be Enyeama, Adler, Forster or Schmeichel. Option B, I'd go with Simonsen, Frey or Julio Cesar.

^^^^ lol

Inler might be possible if recent events at Napoli are to go by, just about every week 1 of their players gets robbed.

If Cesc is brought back then I would expect no strong DM to be bought. Cesc would have to take Arteta's spot.

A rotation of Cesc, Ramsey, Flamini and Wilshere would be pretty sweet (sorry Arteta I am just thinking of the future, I love you though).

Some really awful suggestions here.

that is so true.

I love Flamini but he is simply not good enough either. DM has got to be a priority. In terms of first XI i'd say its even more important than improving Giroud. And we definitely need to improve on Giroud.

I don't agree on this, a striker is the biggest priority and I think Flamini is good enough to help win trophies!

Arteta was clearly first choice this year. Flamini is too much of a liability and adds little going forward. Again, I love him and hope he stays as part of the squad but he is already playing at the outer reaches of his level.

Top priority is a CF. Then a DM/CM.

With a decent struker that worries defenders thwy are less likely to pusg up and leave h8m space so it affects the rest of the pitch as well. A top fast CF who puts a shift in would be a big help for us defensively as well. I think some people forget to look at the whole pitch when thinking about what will improve a team most.

Is that aimed at me?

Last thing we need is an overhaul, we have very little dead wood and just need a few signings to complete the squad.
