Gibbs' Time To Shine

With the inevitable departure of Sagna now lurking there will be the emerging prospect of the No. 3 shirt being available . That shirt should certainly go to Kieran Gibbs, yes it's just a shirt but for me once you get 1 of the first 11 numbers your role becomes a bit more significant at least mentally in some cases.

This shirt has previously been worn by Cole & Winterburn who were both fantastic LB's for the club Gibbs being another Brit is of that ilk and more especially coming through the club ranks which make an automatic affiliation with the supporters and individual.

Gibbs has proved his worth at the club for the last 3 seasons and has always had a significant moment at vital stages of the season. Don't forget THAT tackle some years back Vs West Brom to secure us 3rd place and what became the last available CL spot, then his goal-line header in the final the other day reminiscent of a young Cole.

Gibbs must now stay fit to secure his status as a key player for us especially at the back with Per & Kos. I'd like to think that the debate on him and Monreal is very clear now, as I always maintained Gibbs was superior and it's been proven Monreal is no more than SOLID back-up or impact sub to help Gibbs. Having seen his best-mate Ramsey push on (with his other bestie Theo before that) and become valued members of the team I hope it can rub off on Gibbs to be more than 1st choice and play a key role in our team attacking wise as well as defensively.....
