My Take On The Glazers.

First and foremost, R.I.P Malcolm Glazer.

Reading the previous article I couldn't believe some of the comments which suggested they were happy/not bothered at his death. We are human beings man ffs have some compassion. If you don't like them then just keep it to yourself, theres no need for it.

I personally think the Glazers have been great owners, contrary to popular belief.

Sure they have saddled the club with debt, but for me its a short term sacrifice for a long term gain. They have turned us into a commercial MONSTER and we have improved our global brand ten fold since they took over.

I'm no whizz when it comes to business, but I would wager a lot of money on the fact that they are very smart, driven and astute businessmen and you would be hard pushed to find many better owners around.

They have never shirked when the need for investing in the squad arose, always supporting Fergie, who I think became more stubborn and cautious in his later years, citing 'No value in the market' whilst never once complaining he was not financially backed by the owners.

They have never meddled or interfered with football matters or got involved with things that aren't their strong point. They have stuck to what they know, running a brilliant and enormous business and have chosen not to antagonise Fergie or Moyes.

I might be alone in thinking they are very good owners. You have to consider they have owned the club in arguably one of our most succesful periods where we have amassed many a trophy despite the club being saddled with their debt.

I'd like to end the article by sending out my condolences to the Glazer family.

I've heard that the supporters of the Tampa bay buccaneers have been upset with the glazers as they think they've been taking money out of the Bucs to put into Man Utd

Crazy thing is that although this leveraged but out is common knowledge over in the UK, in Tampa they don't know about it and have that incorrect assumption.

The only problem with the leveraged buy out was that I wasn't able to do it myself! This is the problem with the Glazer detractors, they can't abide seeing others succeed!
----

This, what cracks me up is that people tthink if we were a plc, the money would stay with the club. It will go into the pockets of shareholders.

Arsenal fans can attest to this.

RIP Malcolm Glazer, I protestetd the takeover but when it was completed, I shut up and focused on supporting my team.

The debt is only like a normal person remortgaging their house!!!!

Say you earn £35,000 per year
You own a house worth £200,000 with no mortgage
You borrow £30,000 against the house for improvements
So long as you are earning, you will eventually pay off the loan in a few years. In the meantime, the house will grow in value and be worth more than when you borrowed.

That's what they have done at Man Utd, but because the figures are astronomical, everyone bleats on and on about the debt, when in effect its nothing to worry about. Fact is the debt has halved in 10 years, so in another 10 years time, it could be argued the debt will be paid off, and the club would be worth 4 or 5 times as much as when they took over!

Exactly. Thousands of business takeovers are done in this manner every year. Phillip Green raised £11bn in loans in his (ultimately failed) attempt to takeover M&S in the early 00's. And his acquisition of Arcadia was a multi-billion pound "loan".

Yep, but only recently had a photo opportunity with our own CL cup was nice.

I guess the anticipation of a lack of 2014/15 CL revenue to help fund a lavish lifestyle / shopping mall development can't have helped with stress levels either.
