Yesterday of TalkSport they were debating whether Tottenham can be called a "big" club. Obviously that depends entirely on what you define as "big", but where do they, and other clubs, stand relative to one another in this regard?
You've got to take into account everything; history, current success, global fan base, squad value, stadium size, revenue, attendance and whatever else you can think of.
I've been slightly biased towards success in my lifetime but here's mine, I'd be keen to know your top 20!
1) Manchester United
2) Liverpool
3) Arsenal
4) Chelsea
5) Everton
6) Manchester City
7) Tottenham
8) Newcastle
9) Aston Villa
10) West Ham
11) Leeds United
12) Sunderland
13) Southampton
14) Nottingham Forest
15) Sheffield Wednesday
16) West Brom
17) Derby County
18) Blackburn
19) Wolves
20) Ipswich

Ask OP to change the title...
What's the point of discussing a sport that is ONLY played in one country on this football forum..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
3 or 4 people are discussing something like normal human beings. There are many other threads you can ruin with your pathetic wumming.
As Glenghis said 'big club' is subjective and doesn't really mean anything anyway. Sheeeit, you probably class WHU as 'big'.

"You are right but the penalties they throw for hits now is getting a bit ridiculous."

Couldn't agree more. But it's the NFL protecting their golden geese. It's a hell of a lot tougher to market a Charles Woodson, a James Harrison or a Jared Allen, than it is Tom Brady, a Payton Manning or a Calvin Johnson and as such, anything that'll keep them on the field for more weeks, months and years, the NFL are always going to be in favour of. The hits are still hard enough to enjoy, but I do agree, that it is, much of the time, an annoyance.

"NFL Films are such high quality, they are a pleasure to watch. America's Game about each Superbowl teams season are fantastic documentaries. Shame they never do the same for football."
==========================================
They're the best sports docs around (although the ESPN's 30 for 30 series and the recent BBC world cup docs are running them close). My only gripe, is that I wish they were a little more removed as opposed to the way in which they produce them these days. The best America's game episodes are the reflective ones, the one's that bring in the retireees (76 Raiders, 83 Raiders and 94 49ers and the '99 Rams are my personal favourite episodes) and I just wish they'd held back on the mroe recent one's, perhaps leaving a 5 year waiting period so we could reflect on their careers after the superbowl win just to generally complete their stories in the way we're able to with the older episodes. Just a personal thing that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's understandable with all the lawsuits and flak coming their way. They need to find a balance. Personally I will always prefer defense, I wanna see an LT or John Lynch or Ray Lewis as I'm sure a lot of other fans do.
Totally agree about the docs, hence my love of 70's NFL. People like Czonka, Deacon Jones and Mean Joe Greene... I think you become a better storyteller once you are older and have had time to reflect.

Nice talking to you mate. Always appreciate it when some knows there stuff
76 Raiders was my favourite, 'kick em in the head' Ted. They were some nasty b*stards
I'll let Mafia take over now as I'm sure he has intelligent points to raise

Okay then mate, where would you put WHU in the league of bigness?

One or two place higher..Maybe after moving in to OS..

I don't think you should be above Leeds or Villa. If it's on stadium size fair enough about Newcastle. They've never won fack all either.

Yes, correct. Newcastle haven't won any silverware over 50 years..but West Ham have and hence should be above them.

Aston Villa are still the 4th most successful team in England despite almost 20 years of standing still and 4 recent years of complete hell.

Wolves should be 13th.
