In one of the first surprises of the Summer, Ricky Lambert seems to be on his way to Liverpool. I'm a big admirer of Lambert's and it's nice to see someone rise up through the leagues to ultimately end up at the club they support (I believe he's a Liverpool fan?). As, I assume, an upgrade on Aspas, it's a decent piece of business for Pool.
Were he 4-5 years younger he's someone I'd definitely be interested in at Arsenal, and I probably prefer him as a player to Giroud even if both are obstensibly 'target men'. He's a little more mobile than the Frenchman, and is probably a more intelligent player just as adept at bringing others into play, and probably a better finisher too. Not to mention his set pieces, which speak for themselves. I cannot believe there was ever a debate over whether he or Carroll should go to the World Cup.

"he'll look back with a little regret"
he's 32 and headed back to the club he supports and started out at as a youth.
I think going to the WC and (hopefully) scoring in front of the kop is pretty much a dream end to a career

Elvis had similar thoughts.
But seriously, yes I agree and that was the point of my post.

The signing of Lambert is not going to get any one worked up or nervous is it...finish 2nd & sign Lambert? what is he..32??

Lambert must be over the moon and rightly so.
Ending his career basically at the club he supported and imo still has quite a bit left to give. Hes a good signing and will give pool something different.

No wumming from me, GT, just a fan of Lambert, shame he's not younger. You know what I think about Giroud, I still think he's harshly treated on here, and I wouldn't swap him for Lambert now, but the Englishman has a lot to his game.

Lambert and Giroud are not too far apart if you put them on a scale.
