He also stated publicly that he was open to returning, whilst Arsenal stated nothing publicly and Sociedad stated both that he was definitely staying and that he was definitely leaving. I guess people just believe what they want to believe - usually whatever is negative about Arsenal.

You're right Arsenal don't like giving the media anything but we are also known for not being a club to sign players by the 1st of July.
It would be good just once a while if our new signing could take part in our pre-season preparation rather than missing the first two games of the season
