Some may have seen this already but it's a decent analysis of Poch's playing style

There are a couple main things to note about his approach. First, he loves playing with one midfielder who generally stays deeper and intervenes when an opponent is attempting to counter, which is a natural weakness with this approach. Sandro is an ideal player for this role because of his range in midfield and tackling ability. You won’t find a better player at chasing down the play and making a tackle from behind than Spurs’ forgotten Brazilian.
Paulinho will be the Cork/Wanyama type player in midfield who needs to work hard and do a bit defensively, but who will also have license to get forward a bit more. Paulinho is much more aggressive going forward, but can likely get away with that because of the pace of Tottenham’s fullbacks and the ability of Sandro.
Eriksen would play a role similar to Adam Lallana’s, which is basically a free role in an advanced midfield position.
Erik Lamela will play on the right as the wide forward, similar to Jay Rodriguez’s role at Southampton.
Moussa Dembele, meanwhile, seems the best candidate as the utility wide man who tends to keep the ball moving, break up play, press the ball, and help cover for the free role given to Eriksen. That said, it’s not hard to imagine Gylfi Sigurdsson or Nabil Bentaleb doing well in a similar role.
The striker position may be the biggest question mark, as Spurs don’t really have a Rickie Lambert-type striker who is lethal in the 18 yard box, holds up play well, and also has good technical ability as a passer. Spurs have a good finisher who doesn’t offer as much outside the box in Roberto Soldado and they have a good all-around striker who isn’t as lethal finishing in Emmanuel Adebayor. But they don’t have a player who brings all those qualities together.
That said, Pochettino did experiment with a kind of 4-2-2-2 earlier last season with Dani Osvaldo and Lambert playing together, so perhaps he’ll try the same with Adebayor and Soldado. (If he does, I expect we’ll see the utility advanced midfielder dropped and probably a more defensive-minded midfielder than Paulinho partnering Sandro—so perhaps it’s as simple as dropping Paulinho for a second striker and then playing Dembele in Paulinho’s midfield role and recreating his spectacular partnership with Sandro.
The main question mark at this point with the club is what might happen with a few other players at Spurs who seemed to be on the outs before Pochettino’s hire. Lewis Holtby, Aaron Lennon, Michael Dawson, and Andros Townsend had all been linked with moves away. Dawson’s place is, if anything, further weakened by Pochettino’s hire, but Holtby, Lennon, and Townsend all seem like proper Pochettino players because of their tremendous work rate. But if those players are retained, one has to think other players will be sold to accommodate the 2-3 signings Pochettino will almost certainly want to make. Etienne Capoue, Dawson, and possibly Kyle Naughton may all leave, but it’s hard to see any more than 2-3 players being sold as Levy will be reluctant to have another summer of massive transition. The Pochettino hire, though it may not seem it, is actually about continuity. So that should apply to the squad. Look for a slow summer at White Hart Lane.

Sherwood is really odd guy. Especially as he was a defensive mid. Some type of psychological denial of that position even existing.

didn't help that he shat out the team lineups either.
done himself no favours at all getting a future job by mouthing off in the press at every opportunity like redknapp did - only unlike redknapp, he didn't back it up on the pitch.

majority of managers in football let their ego's ruin them or at least talk themselves out of jobs.
Sherwood
Keane
O'neil
Curbishley
I don't think these guys realised how long they would be out of the game for.
Obviously O'neill is making a comeback but didn't he walk out on Villa as Keane walked out on Sunderland. They think they are bigger than the club at times.
Sherwood and Keane had both achieved sweet FA to be soo arrogant and feel the media needed to hear what they had to say.
Sherwood demanding he had control of who he signed...do me a favour Tim! you don't even have your badges?!!
Rant over!

I seriously think all our team needs is good coaching. AVB didn't play to our strengths and Sherwood was clueless.

I can easily see Capoue being preferred to Sandro in the holding role. While his tackling is not so strong his use of the ball is much better.
Sandro still has role BUT i would reckon that if we got a £15m+ offer it would be hard to turn down and maybe replace with a younger understudy.
Can't see Dembele being used wide or enjoying such a role. It will be interesting to see if Poch can quicken up Dembele's decision making because he is a great player when on the ball, is strong, can go past players, retain possession in tight spots but he slows us down.
I think Eriksen is more likely to start from a wider position with licence to drift a bit and I would prefer it if we had a true AM in place of Paulinho in the centre. Someone like Lallana would be great OR may be Paulinho will up his game and his pace this season (although he showed no sign of doing so at the WC).
In the current squad only Eriksen provides creativity, Lamela MIGHT add another dimension if he starts to play well but really we need more creativity centrally. Imagine if Eriksen was out for a few months , everyone else just offers power or pace with no end product.
So i would expect Poch to have Capoue holding, Dembele and a new AM ahead of him, Eriksen from wide on one side and Lamela from the other.
We need pace though so someone like Remy would be a real good value option. Probably Ade up top.

That is why i would want us to have a creative option in the CM, in place of Paulinho whom, having watched him this season and the WC, seems to offer little creatively or defensively.
Maybe Lamela could be that central attacking role...who knows until we actually see him play.
In any event, I want Paulinho out an d hope that some one will stump up a minimum of £14m to cut our losses.
