Na-na--na-nananaNAHHHH Jeeeeroooooo!

I wrote this as a comment in an article but figured Id make an article about it too to counter all the hate on our dashingly handsome player from Provence!

What people are forgetting is that for our system, when all first team forward players are fit, Giroud is perfect foil. His hold up play is probably the best in the league allowing walcott/sanchez/ramsey space to run in-between defenders.

He's been unfairly scapegoated for two disjointed seasons where Podolski has under performed (I stress under performed rather than under delivered, his stats are good but his contribution to build-up play and defending is sub par), Wilshere hasn't kicked on (something wenger probably didn't expect). Theo hasn't had anything close to a full season in two years.

I could go on... There are many factors in this puzzle. It's not as simple as Giroud not being a clinical finisher.. That's not why he was bought. Wenger believes in having goals come from all over the pitch so we don't become predictable like Man United last season and so we don't have forwards man-marked out of the game.

I guarantee if we had a fully fit team in the big games where we got destroyed (like our opponents had) we would have held our own.

My biggest hope for this coming season is that this new fitness coach has a big impact on reducing our injury record. Hopefully he identifies which players require more strength training to be more resilient to knocks etc.

Thusly Im more interested in seeing what this team can do with very few injuries (and no long term ones to key players) over a season rather than bringing in a marquee striker who will not suddenly bang in 30 goals in a different league in his first season.

Arsenal fans need to get real on this matter. If we were to buy a speedier more clinical finisher to displace Giroud, we'd probably be sacrificing hold-up play and height in the team for defending corners etc and as a result we would have to change our entire formation/style and we would also be back to the glory days of fans knowing whenever we defend a corner or set piece, there's a 80% chance we'll concede! Remember those days fondly folks? Yeah I don't either!

I would prefer Arsenal play 4-6-0 and not have a sriker than play Giroud. With the likes of Ozil, Cazorla, Theo, Sanchez, Pod, Ox, etc for rhe attacking roles and all (imo) capable of 15-20 goals or more per season and would make us more effective.

P.s. GT, please don't respond to this, I know and dont care what you think.

Good article OP!

Giroud has some good qualities so lets focus on them and as he is still an Arsenal player the best thing we can do as fans is support him.

Giroud is mostly blamed for not being Van Persie. He has his limitations, but he had a good season and played pretty much every game, carrying a lot of responsibility. He should've had better backup.
It's one thing to point out his faults and discuss what tgey mean for the team whilst being aware of his qualities, too. Most of the posts on this article and every other article about Giroud are just whining and would be bullying if the posters actually mattered. As it is, they sit around having a virtual circlejerk comparing moronic insults about a man who doesn't know they exist and who plays (with a very good attitude) for the team that they claim to support. Giroud is a good striker, but it would be great to have a better one. What more is there to say?

Banging models on the night before a game, top attitude.

I said please. That makes it a request rather than telling. Your English is about as good as your taste in players.
