Ditch Flamini, Keep Coquelin

Once we do hopefully get this new DM we crave if the books need balancing I do hope we sell Flamini as opposed to Coquelin. Firstly we wouldn't need both Flamini and Arteta as back up that'd be weak.

Secondly Coquelin can offer us much more than Flamini anyway, he's like Mathieu in his first spell. He has bite, he's better on the ball, he's athletic and is versatile being able to play DM, CM, RB, LB, WM that's more than useful.

Also we're entering a positive phase after all the hardship we went through and suffered. Flamini doesn't deserve to be a part of this. He was the first post-invincible to jump ship and leave on 'contract issues' and started a trend we suffered a lot from then on and for me it's hard to accept that still.

Arteta's experience is more professional than his anyway, Flamini just shouts at people and is bang average. He only improved us last year because we had literally nobody else that got stuck in, that hopefully should change.

Coquelin is on the same level or higher ability wise with added potential it's a no-brainer that Flamini should go before any other midfielder if we're to make space for a new one.

It is something RGK would write...

Ideally I'd like us to sell Coquelin and Arteta (sadly I see no takers for Mikel), keep Flamini as backup and buy someone better. But lately the rumours about us going for a DM have stopped after the failure to agree terms with Khedira. Hope this position gets addressed though.

IMO we have a fairly settled squad but the area that needs addressed the most is a DMF. The ever reliable David “the oracle” Ornstein from the beeb has stated that we are still in the market for a DMF, and hopefully something can be done.

What we don’t need however is another squad player in this position. IMO we need someone who is able to make the position their own, with Flamini, Arteta providing support.

Agreed on both counts Stuart Pearce

Back stabber? You mean just like TH14 who engineered a move to Barcelona yet is widely worshipped by Arsenal fans. Catch a grip.

Read that again, raise your right hand and slap yourself.
Don't compare the king to that snake. Titi gave us everything even signed a deal the year before he left.

Flamini ditched us on a free oh and you want to know why he showed more commitment than most? Because we handed him a lifeline, a club with our ambitions did not need a player with as little ability as Flamini but Wenger being the great forgiving man he is gave him a chance, only a would lack commitment in such circumstance.

If my thoughts on Flamini stemmed from that history rather than generally believing Coquelin can OFFER the team more then I would have just said ditch Flamini for new DM anyway, but I've always been a Coquelin fan and believe he's the type of option useful for most squads.

He's fairly young (thus will improve), versatile, good on the ball, athletic, aggressive. Remember that Chelsea game especially on one winter where he was superb.

That's a big game where we lack bite usually. Anyway I'd respect if Wenger doesn't keep him. I'd wish him well he'd certainly benefit the Evertons/Southamptons of this world whilst Flamini is more a Stoke/West Ham player now.

He was a key player for them during their league title win in 2011/12.

Key player released in an instant sounds right, not even cashed in on.... RELEASED fgs

Your lack of understanding in regard to Arsenal is remarkable, and emotive language unnecessary.

If you believe Coquelin to be a good player (despite the irrefutable evidence to the contrary) then so be it.

In regard to Flamini read a piece that further highlights the nonsense that is your article.

"He (Flamini) has been a pivotal player for Arsenal in the Premier League and Champions League, and the statistics support him strongly."

"When he plays, Arsenal score much more, they concede less and they win much more. According to Opta, the club's win percentage with Flamini in the team is 72.73%; without him, it is 50%."

"As an aside, he has the highest pass completion ratio of any midfielder in the Premier League, his 92.38% narrowly eclipsing Arteta in second, which speaks volumes for his reliability."

Suggest you reevaluate your opinions but as you are so prejudiced I guess that is never going to happen.

He played the majority of the smaller home games his stats are always going favour him apart from City at home can't remember many big big game performances from him.

People call Arteta a sideways passer and criticise his stats based on that then what is Flamini? Never ever goes forward of course his pass rate will look good.

I just think he's bang average and would love to get rid asap if whether we kept Coquelin or not let that joke go too! Rather rely on Diaby staying fit than have Flamini.

The fact that some considered him a 'leader' showed how far we'd fallen in that respect! Just a shouter with limited ability

My point proven.

Despite irrefutable evidence to the contrary and universal acclaim from peers and critics, you still think a reserve squad player is superior.

Laughable!
