I'm glad that someone pointed these facts out. The '98 winner he had only been on the field for 17 seconds.

I also remember him and Flo tearing Barca a new one in the '99 Champions League Quarter Final first leg.

Both Zola and Cantona had disappointing (or at least underwhelming) international careers, whereas Bergkamp is probably one of Holland's all-time greats, consistently performing in qualifiers and at major tournaments.

That fact always gave me the impression that maybe part of the reason Cantona and Zola were so impressive was because our league was quite poor when they came over and exotic skillful foreigners like them were something new and exciting.

Not that they weren't outstanding and very entertaining players mind.
