I want United to sign Rojo!!

...and it is not because I know every little thing about him, i'll leave that to LvG and Co.

I do have some trust in is the ability of Jones, Smalling and Evans and want to finally see them given a run at CB, with the responsibility that will finally make or break them at top level. Jones and Smalling were signed to be Rio/Vidic's replacement (along with Evans). Rojo just joins the mix.

The idea that Rojo is being signed as a replacement for those two players is backward thinking... We already have their replacements. We also have Evra's replacement in Shaw... We will now have some quality LB backup too.

Now we just need Carvalho (who got red carded this weekend )

Beckenbaur didn't really say Reus would come to United

He said If he didn't come to BM, then there is always a chance that a club like Real Madrid or manchester United might sign him

There really was nothing more specific than that.

The issue I have with our defensive situation is that because LVG is so determined to play 352 (a formation he has never regularly used at any other club he has managed) we drastically limit our defensive options as we have to get one who can operate on the left side of a back 3 as well as out wide.

Neville even aske Carragher to name him quality left sided CBs who can work in a 3 and his answer was Agger FFS!

I'm just a little confused as to why he is limiting his options to just to fit players in a systwm that isn't even his favoured one. If he concentrated on getting 433 right and buying players to fit in that system he would have a far bigger choice of CBs to choose from as well as being able to bring in real pace on the wings and not worry about their defensive game.

They also pointed out the obvious in that a back 3 is played by most clubs these days, when on the ball.

We used to have Carrick drop to cb, Barca have Busquets, Liverpool now use Gerrard, Bayern use Lahm.

It's just a different starting point but the formation really isn't a million lightyears away from the usual 4-2-3-1 when on the ball, there is just less width.

I personally do not want Hummels or Benatia. I think both will be exposed in the prem rather easily

but Rojo will make it in PL
============

Rojo has the tools to make it in the prem as do Hummels and Benatia.

Benatia plays in Serie A where few teams attack with pace or look to run in behind all the time, in the Bundesliga because of Dortmund's pressing game, Hummels is not exposed to it.

Both leagues are not as physical and both players will get done for pace in the prem or bullied.

However the outlay for both are significantly more than Rojo. Rather than continue to pine for those who do not want to come here, why not appreciate the one who does?

Can someone explain why we played 352 at home to Swansea when they only had one striker playing. On top of that we had two of the least likely wingbacks playing. Very odd.

I'm filing it under 'if Moyes had done that'

Two best CBs in two of the best leagues in the world has much higher likelyhood of being a topclass CB in PL than above average CB in a much weaker league.

Id say there is a much higher probability that Hummels or Benatia becoming a worlclass player in PL than Rojo. there is also a much higher probability that Rojo will turn out to be average than Hummels or Benatia.

16m is not peanuts, we kept pending 10-20 on average players that adds up to our budget and our squad, which at the end make very little difference on the pitch. We should be looking to spend big money on players who are more likely to make a significant contribution on the pitch

Btw you are wrong about Hummels. Dortmund mostly looks to sit deep and hit the team on the counter, especially against strongish teams. they do press with a high backline if they are playing against a weaker team or chasing the game. He apt at playing in a high backline or deeper one.

Bundesliga has plenty of strong, physical strikers and fast strikers. Hummels is never overly stretched against either type. He do not have a weakness against fast strikers or weak strikers. You'd have figure it out if you actually watch him play consistently.

Im sure your pressumption on Bentia and Serie A is BS as well, maybe someone who watch Serie A can confirm it

Most of the people for who watch Serie A dont agree with your assessment of Benatia

As for Dortmund, They sit back till opposition push on to certain areas of the pitch to press. Their pressing is more similar to how Atletico press than to how Barca or Bayern press. They never push their back line to the halfway line unless they are chasing a game. I watch lots of Dortmund matches since 2010, went to few games every season till Mach last year. I have a pretty good idea how they play

If bundesliga is shitttw apart from Bayern and dortmund, then every league is shitte apart from 2to 4 top teams
