Reus and Muller turned us down.

Not sure how much of this is true but according to the athletico president the chance to join united was turned down by reus.
There is also talk of muller turning us down despite being offered higher wages.

People have been critical of our transfer activity of late and players such as di maria, hummels, vidal etc have been demanded by some fans. But i think too many assume that these world class players actually want to come to united. There is absolutely no point in chasing after players that do not want to come.Personally i couldn't give a toss about how much we need a world class player,if he does not want to play for this great club and wear the iconic shirt then he can feck off.

No player is bigger than the club.

I think players just see a team on the wane that finished 7th. How many of your 1st half team on Saturday start for their country?

Who has paid their own buy out clause to come to Man U?

----------------

Herrera.
--------------------------------
Ok, so 1 player, not players. And he's decent, nothing special, coming from Bilbao to Man U for £30mil and much bigger wages, so for him, it's more of an investment, which he knows he'll get back through his wages and i'm guessing some of the transfer fee too. Not exactly pushing the boat to come to you is it?

We could have spent 42m on a player who only plays for half a season but that's another discussion

Any club not in the champions league would struggle to attract the best players in Europe. It's not rocket science.

Like city and psg and Monaco did?

I think we are just unfashionable right now, for whatever reason

Fabregas was cheaper than Herrera and would have been a United play last summer if we had stumped up enough then. As it is inexplicably LVG decided that Herrera was preferable. Time will tell on that.
I do like Herrera but crazy to chase Fabregas for so long and then not go for him.
Sorry but we are a shambles in the transfer market

Probably find that Cesc found London preferable, but I guess we'll never know.

Still a shame we couldn't get him last season, Moyes comments make you think it was closer than most like to think.

Read the article in today's Guardian. Fabregas would have been got if we offered more last summer and this summer no move was made by either United or Arsenal !!

I've to say, I'm not too sure how major this news is on both accounts, as in the Mueller case, he is asked a general question about moving to United, which doesn't specify which transfer window this move was mooted and he responds that he rebuffed United AND other foreign clubs (top clubs it seems as they were offering 'astronomical figures'

As for Reus, I'm leaning towards that statement out of BVB 09 when we were linked with Hummels by the Spanish newspaper SPORT - something along the lines of how a Spanish newspaper knew more about a transfer between an English and German club

Just doesn't add up though. Why not stump up the cash for Cesc yet pay a lot more for an inferior Mata?

I'm not saying that wasn't the case, it seems to have been exactly that, but it really shows the current state of the club

Well maybe we just dithered, didn't offer enough in the summer and then Mata was touted as Maureen wanted to cash in and was then a much easier target mid-season. But yes our current state is not good.
