Right, Liverpool and City fans, if Balo is to arrive and the deal is finalised smoothly ... what can we expect?
Has he matured enough from his time at City? Or did he even need to mature?
I remember Mancini hauling him off for missing a sitter in a friendly if I'm not mistaken, and I remember his off-the-field antics well. Should we expect more of the same, guys? If so, will we embrace it? We gave Suarez his indiscretions after all.
In my opinion, the guy's a character and I couldn't be more excited to see him in a red shirt. I loved him when he played for City and was sad to see him leave the league, but as a Liverpool fan, I'm glad he's making his return ... and glad he's chosen us.
Could we see him play a part against City on Monday? Maybe even bag a goal from the bench?
If Balotelli does arrive

Sigh.....it's a loop...I should know better..

That's right, Galv, that's how it works.
If you start some banter, and then get upset when you get some back, it kind of defeats the object of the banter, don't you think?

The replies were just as throwaway yet he then accuses everyone of being precious etc. that's where the issue lies not with that comment.
What's good for the goose eh

As with all new Liverpool signings I wish him the best and hope he becomes a great player for us if not a legend.
Will he be good for us? That remains to be seen, but in the same way that Sturridge has matured and settled down and found his 'footballing home', hopefully Balotelli has matured somewhat and Brendan can help him focus on delivering on the pitch in a prestigious red shirt. We need someone else up front and he's familiar with both English and European football so this could prove to be a clever deal.

I agree, at 16m, it only needs to be a short-term boost.
BR is building his team around youngsters, as shown by most of the players we’ve bought in this window. BR even said that if we didn’t find the right player, we wouldn’t bother, and his other fall-back option was Eto’o, which gives some idea of how short-term this particular requirement is.
We actually have a good record without Suarez, but there were one or two games when we lacked a cutting-edge...a bit of confidence in our ability to break teams down, and Balotelli can provide that presence, until our youngsters come through.
That’s all we need from him, we don’t need consistency or long-term viability, and at 16m it’s not that much of a risk. We don’t even know at this stage if he will always be a starter.
He’s only 24, so if by chance he does settle down and become consistent, then that’s a Brucie-bonus, and would represent excellent value.
If he plays up, then we’ll take his goals, and ship him back out again, with plenty of time to shop for a replacement, it’s not going to make or break BR, at that price.

Not many doubt his talent, but many do doubt his temperament. If Mario can sort out his attitude, then he'll be a great player for any team. Until he does however, he'll only ever be a liability.
Will be interesting to see how he copes with being at Liverpool.
