What impact could Di Maria have?

Without faffing about for too long here is what I think di maria brings to our current squad:

1)World class ability-Apart from Wazza ,RVP and Mata we do not have another player of serious world class level. I would even argue that Di Maria is actually a level above Wazza, RVP and Mata, he has been a match winner for Real numerous times and has performed against the big teams in the biggest competitions. I seem to recall him ripping athletico a new one in last seasons Champions league final.

2)Excitement-This isn't a player who will go around doing a job whilst keeping a low key status like a Michael Carrick. This is a player who will excite. He will do step overs, he will do tricks, he will go past players and doing it all at a 100mph.Tthe last time we had a player like that he went onto legendary status amongst the fans. That brings me to the next point.

3)The fans-I remember being in the stadium when the likes of Ronaldo,Cantona and Giggsy got on the ball, suddenly you just felt a surge in the atmosphere, it was the anticipation of knowing something was going to happen, something special was about to take place.Reminds me of the first time you lose your virginity and just before you stick it in, you know regardless of how good looking she is,it's going to be feckin amazing.

4)Fear factor-A lot has been said about our loss of fear factor but a large part of that is down to us not having the type of players that strike fear into teams.I remember the days when we did have players that struck fear into the opponents. The days where teams would come to old Trafford and know that some of there opposite numbers were gods. I remember the days of Ronaldo and Giggsy skipping past one, then running at the player covering, whilst he back peddled like there was no tomorrow. With Di Maria on the horizon those days could be coming back.

5)Flexibility in our formation-LVG has stated he would have liked to play 433 but he did not have the right player, well now we have that player. Much has been said about the 352 but with Di Maria imminent we have the option to go to 433.Being confined to playing one formation would have made us in my opinion predictable. Now we have much more flexibility which can only be a good thing.

Of course all of this is hypothetical and it may not come to fruition but only time will tell and I personally have faith in LVG and any player that puts on a united shirt, especially one of Di Marias ability. I also cannot remember being this excited about a signing for a long time.

Thoughts?

to suggest that Fabragas wouldnt improve our CMF is just ridiculous. And to suggest that a stronger pairing in midfield isnt going to improve our defense is laughable. Of course it is. Thats half our problem we give the ball away in CMF too much, even against mid table sides such as Swansea and S'land...our current CMids are are lightweight and static and the oppo generally runs rivers through them exposing our defense.. We need a CM pair who will win the ball, retain it, get our attacking players involved and be available for them near their box Without better players DiMaria and Co wont be able to make a great deal of an impact.Hopefuly Herrera will be a start to rectify this but we need at least one more top drawer CM player as an absolute priority.

Oh dear. Oh dear. This whole issue with semantics came from your initial post ridiculous regarding Cesc. It's quite obviously a distraction tactic.

When someone says a 'game changer' it is Flamini that springs to mind I suppose? Or a match winner in Giroud?
What you're doing is looking at the actual definition of the words.

Look at the word 'creativity' in football for example. What does one mean by a player that's creative? Someone who can see the pass and deliberately picks out a defence splitting pass or someone like Valencia aimlessly running down the byline and hoofing it in? Would you describe Valencia as creative?

Straying off topic now it seems. Another one of your little tactics it seems.

I don't particularly care about Cesc. I actually want him to flop.
Just find it amusing that you're trying to tell yourself he wouldn't be an upgrade on Herrera.

Maybe cause I don't want him to improve Chelsea. Not rocket science.

Anyway, you've gone off topic. Don't be such a sp'astic next time.
