So Liverpool have spent £100m this summer on players. Good players. Some I'd never heard of, Moreno, Manquillo, Markovic. Well I hope they come good. Manquillo did well vs Southampton at least. Anyway, with such great depth in the squad I feel we can do very well this year. A top four finish and a good run in the cups is a likely outcome. Perhaps a winner of one competition at least.
Starting line up is a hard question with a fully fit squad. Particularly if Balotelli joins officially. Not sure what our strongest back 4 is yet. I'd assume Lovren is first name down in defence purely because of the fee and he is solid. Sturridge is a must starter and Gerrard by name alone will start when fit. But the rest could all be subject to rotation. I'd suggest Coutinho and Sterling and Henderson are the strongest choices but then there is Lallana and for arguments sake Ballotelli to fit in. Spoilt for choice we are.
So for the premier league I'd envisage a starting team of
Mignolet
Johnson, Lovren, Agger, Enrique
Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho
Sterling, Sturridge, Lallana
With the likes of Moreno, Balotelli, Markovic and Can playing more of a role in the CL because of their overseas experience.
Lambert and the rest will be more cup starters and impact subs.
