Can Welbeck be improved?

IF we sign him. Can Poch make him a striker? or does Poch see him competing with Chadli for a starting position on the left of the attacking 3.

Taken from an article: 'What Next For Danny Welbeck?

The forward has played 91 times for Manchester United in the league, showing how he has forced his way to become a first team regular at the club, however this may be a sign that Van Gaal wants to improve the overall quality of the squad, as many consider Welbeck to not be good enough for the United squad.

Welbeck has only scored 20 times in the league, showing that he isn’t very prolific for a forward consistently playing in a side like Manchester United. That may be part of the reason the new manager is trying to get rid of the Englishman, however to be fair to Welbeck, he has played the majority of his games as a winger, with Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney being used as the main strikers. The club has those two, Javier Hernandez and the talented youngster James Wilson in the squad, which makes Welbeck a viable candidate to be sold to make way for Angel di Maria.

The forward managed nine assists across those league games, which highlights that as well as his lack of goals, Welbeck wasn’t a creative force either, making him rather poor when it came to output. He is a clever passer of the ball, while he is also a very talented dribbler as he could often weave past opposition players, but his final ball lets him down and prevents him from becoming a top class striker. There is clearly a lot to work with in terms of ability, as top managers like Sir Alex Ferguson and Roy Hodgson would testify, plus his hard working attitude will make him a great signing for the majority of top flight clubs.

He is still only 23 and his final ball will improve significantly as he approaches the prime of his career. If he is played regularly as a striker, he has all the attributes to become a regular scorer of 15+ goals a season in the Premier League, which should make him attractive to the likes of Everton, Newcastle and Southampton.

Very impressed with Poch and hoping he's around a long time.

GK,RB,CB,CB,LB is what he's signed, so im guessing he weren't impressed with our defence last season

Sensible signings. We have to cut our cloth accordingly but we are one Top class striker away from being a menacing outfit. Atletico Madrid gave me hope for us.
Hard work and a clinical striker can get you places.

He's got a worse record than Emile Heskey

I'd give up on Spurs if we sign him, not the direction the club should go in

I personally wouldn't be too upset. Under LVG he will not be nurtured just like he wasn't with Moyes but was under SAF he was pretty awesome. Poch is great at helping young talent progress as well
