Can Welbeck be improved?

I really hope we sign wellbeck, I think he has most things needed to be a top player and would fit into the system poch plays very well. I could see him playing in the same manner that poch used j rod at Southampton wide forward but given plenty of freedom to roam.

I can see him being deployed very much similar role to the Jay Rodriguez role at Southampton.

I think Welbeck would be a quality signing for us and as Sandrobeast said i think he could play on the left of the attacking three and fill in at cf when needed.

Apart from his sheer pace he has a fantastic work ethic.

I'll take your word on that because I don't see nothing that's good about Welbeck!!! Rather just keep Townsend and wait for JRod

He's got a worse record than Emile Heskey

I'd give up on Spurs if we sign him, not the direction the club should go in

Cannot Spurs just stick with what they have. What`s the panic, the team are top of the table, and still in all cup competitions. Spurs cannot compete wage or transfer wise with the really big boys, so why keep spending. The squad is big enough as it is. Let Poch just get the best out of what he has.

I don't think we need him, but these rumours are gathering a lot of pace.

Hi Thudd

There are quite a few Utd fans who are not wanting welbeck to be sold.

Other than composure he is a very good player, works hard ( those who claim he is a "headless chicken" obviously have no understanding of the game) good control, quick, can run with the ball is is a good finisher ( there is a difference between being a good finisher and having no composure).

Welbeck would actually be a very good signing for quite a lot of PL clubs, including you guys.

i for one would rather he stayed at Utd as he offers an outlet none of our other forwards do.

<Laugh> Laziest stock response ever.

That lack of composure makes him look like a headless chicken to me, all too often he doesn't know where he or his teammates are on the pitch.

Not good enough for a supposed top player, I'm glad United fans like him, you can keep him. Fergie knew what he was all about - the next Ji Sung Park.

---------------

its called defending from the front, you'll be suprised how effective it can be and how many times he actually wins back possession for us because of this.

having said that i wouldnt expect you to understand anything about this seeing as you have Adebayor and Soldado up front

More lazy drivel.

Laters Dunc, there's paint drying here that requires my attention.

you'd be well suited as an Arsenal fan on these boards

depending on price would be a useful squad signing, quite versatile and young enough to be developed by Poch. reckon Poch would love working with his raw materials.

No, he can't. It's all well and good saying coach him to do this and, but he's had enough years getting regular games in the top flight and for England.

Although he could 'do a job' he's not an alternative we need, or in my opinion, want.

Would rather we stick with Chadli out there, Andros when we need something different, and occasionally Holtby if we need to be tighter.

We have enough options, and he's not a good enough one to come in displace those we have.

plus, we have a young squad as it is, full of potential, let's give them a shot instead.

If Welbeck played for Hull and Australia, no-one would suggest taking a punt on him.
