No, he can't. It's all well and good saying coach him to do this and, but he's had enough years getting regular games in the top flight and for England.
----------
he cant be improved? what a load of bollox.
every player can be improved, and the younger they are the more likely that they can be improved.
I don't WANT welbeck, we don't need any more forwards, but if Poch decides that he feels welbeck can do a good job in his system then what has Poch done so far for any spurs fan to question him?
poch hasn't even lost a game yet ffs.
the "sheep like effect" is hilarious
when playing as a striker last season he only came behind
Sturridge
Suarez
Aguero
in terms of chances to goals conversion rate.
not too many ahead of him.

welbeck seems to me to be a scapegoat (that's from the outside looking in).
he would be a great spurs signing - divide opinions. spurs fans are not happy unless they are arguing with each other and moaning, so he will fit in perfectly.
so far Poch has been very impressive in the transfer market for us, so I will give the benefit of the doubt to any signing he makes, whether I like it or not, and any spurs fan who doesn't do the same is foolish
Chronic - phrased it bluntly and badly I admit, of course he can improve. I just don't think he can improve on what we have I meant.
Does welbeck show any more potential that Townsend? not really, or at least, Townsend with the same coaching we're talking about.
More than chadli in the same position? Not in my opinion.
More than Kane as a striker? Open to debate, but I'd personally see how Harry can get on as a player from our youth system now he's starting to look the part.
Then behind him we have players like Pritchard who hopefully can come through.
welbeck can of course improve a bit with coaching, but I don't see enough in him the say he can improve over the players we have.
I think welbeck is more consistent than townsend.
but as with welbeck, townsend is a player who definitely can be improved and I think we should keep.
however If I look at the player as they stand, I would argue that welbeck will probably go on to be a better more successful player in the long run than townsend. but I don't know.
I heard a rumour that the reason poch doesn't like townsend is that he will not follow instructions. he has the ability, but basically it seems that he is too thick to do as he is told.
I would imagine that this is very frustrating for a manager.
If Welbeck came in, you'd imagine that he would play on the left of the three attacking players, as opposed to the lone striker.
I really want to see Chadli given a chance to make this position his. I think he will develop into a brilliant player if he's starting every game for a season.
So for me, Welbeck isn't really needed.
Saying that, Welbeck gets so much unwarranted stick, he's a very decent player. He shouldn't be judged solely on his goal return as he is very rarely played as a striker.
I think Wellbeck is a quality player and would be happy if we got him.
He has got everything to his game and seems a real team player and hard worker.

agree.
I want chadli to keep that spot. but we need options.
long, hard season ahead assuming we qualify for Europa.
I think we all agree that welbeck offers more than lennon does.
welbeck is at the very least versatile and would be a decent squad option.
lennon on the other hand, gets defended by many, but what has he done over the last 3 years? and he can only play in one position.
that's what I don't get about spurs fans. we all know that spurs will get lots of injuries this season, it happens every year, but we don't want any decent squad cover, and then we all moan when people like lennon are playing because he doesn't do anything!
I propose that having options behind the striker of townsend welbeck chadli eriksen lamela and kane gives us good balance and options, with kane and welbeck being able to offer cover at CF too.
unless people would rather keep lennon?
lots of spurs fans wanted koloplyanka, but welbeck is a faaaaar better option than him for a whole host of reasons.

900% agree
I would factually move Townsend centrally, run at defenders and get a shot on target. If he's too thick to play intelligent football then give him a role where he doesn't have to think. Run at Goal, shoot.
I would like to give him the ball closer to the opposition box and see what he is capable of.
Tired of his and Dembele's dribbles that often end up nowhere.
Shìt for United and shít for England.
On this basis, I'm guessing he'd be shìt for us too.
You can't on one hand use Welbecks work ethic as a great reason for signing him then dismiss Lennon on the other.
His work ethic is secong to none. Honestly depends which style we end up playing, if possession dominance and work hard to create a chance then Lennon is useless. But the season he really shone was when he was able to usehis pace to get behind defence and look for Defoe with a cut back.
His crossing is terrible, but is pretty good at picking a pass from the byline.
Under AVB the plan was give the ball to Bale to shoot from 25 yards, under Sherwood there wasn't a plan.
Lennon has his uses but agree he shouldn't be in the starting line-up and Townsend more effective from the bench.
a real team player and hard worker.

I am just gonna back Poch really. he knows better than me
I'd personally quite like him
don't think it will happen... Poch wants Jrod and will go after him in Jan imo
don't see the point in signing J Rod, don't really rate him, and hes crocked.

Well his not crocked as back in training now so will be available in a month I think they said.
But with coaching he can get better right?
No point signing a player who is not a definite improvement on what we have...Jrod and Welbeck fall in to those categories. The fact we are all having this debate illustrates this.

yeah, but welbeck is younger and has a higher ceiling. (IMO)
scored 17 goals last season which is pretty good and clearly a favourite of Poch.
