Just thought Id get some fellow fans' views on how our young back 5 (well, the 4 young ones anyway) fared tonight...
De Gea - 7
Did the basics well, had quite a lot to do albeit a lot of that was basic and easy enough. Couple of wobbly moments especially with high balls but Im sure thatll improve in time
Smalling (at RB) - 7
Thought he was amazing defensively. Kept Bale quiet almost all game and technically, he is just amazing. Obviously, I dont see him as a long term right back as I dont think his crossing is all that great.
Evans - 6
All in all, was solid but I have to say, he was lucky not to see red early in the second half. Still dont think he is United first XI quality
Jones - 8
Man this guy is a gem. Constatnyl organised our defence and neevr put a foot wrong.
EDIT: Just wondering what the pecking order is now for the CB positions:
1). Vidic
2). Ferdinand (just)
3). Smalling/Jones (cant decide. Smalling has more experience playing for us but Jones looks class already. Both do in fact)
4). Evans
Agree?

All I know and care about regarding De Gea is this. He has made 5 apperances in all for us (competitive and non-competitive) and we have won 5 games. 100% win record

Why is everybody slating Evans?
I think he played extremely well, covering For Evra superbly. I would give him an 8.

Agreed Evans played well. If you actually watched him in the game he was marshalling the others, shouting out instructions of where they should go and providing great cover allowing the others to go forward. People dont give Evans enough credit. Hes a great defender.
