They did very well, especially Jones.
De Gea - 8 - made just one mistake his passing and distribution is the best ive ever seen.
Smalling - unbelievable first touch, boming up and down the wing, great player.
Evans 7 - Consistent
Jones - 8/9 (cant decide) Lead the line as you said real leader. Also made some great runs up the pitch, a lot of confidence.
Thought Smalling deserved an 8 and Jones a 9. He is exceptional for his age.
Jones is a find. Can foul and not get booked
De Gea 8 if only for the throw out to Young for the second goal, shades of Schmeichel/Kanchelskis in that
Smalling 7 great defensively and overlapped well
Evans 7 a lot calmer than he was last season, which left me a lot calmer than he did last season
Jones 8 Rio better watch his back. And his hamstrings
Dont think you can give De Gea an 8 considering he didnt really have to make any world class saves and almost cost us a goal with a terrible error. But I have every faith in him to come good.
Smalling was flawless defensively but since Im judging him as a right back, I dont think he offered much in advanced areas. Always willing to support Nani but never had confidence to cross the ball
De gea was confident and calm on the ball. Made some real good saves, once which were difficult to hold. He was shouting at his back line which is good to see and his distribution was unbelievable set up many chances including andersons goal. He deserves credit
De Gea 7
Smalling 8
Evans 7
Jones 9
Evra 7
I hate the fact the Smalling is doing o well at RB, mainly because I love the twins so much. If he keeps on performing like this then they will have to share RB with Smalling. The twins do provide that extra bit of creativity, but Smalling adds power and height.

I preferred the deft little lobs he did over Spurs attackers. Fingers crossed any goals he gifts the opposition this year will be cancelled out by the goals he creates / instigates from his distribution!
Jones, an 8 - for that tackle on Bale but he hoofed a little too much for liking. Less Carragher, More Pique Please.
Smalling - has a better first touch than Welbeck and Rooney combined. Kept Bale in his pocket - not so good at crossing. 7.5
De Gea- best distributor in the world - still wobbly and an extra point for almost smashing Defoe's face when he was being a p...rat
Evans - the weakest link. Unlucky to see red but my main issue is he is so ponderous and leaden footed...Jones and Smalling move and are comfortable with the ball, Evans waits for someone to come - even where the is acres of space to run into- or he chooses safest option and passes back to De Gea.

Thank god someone else noticed his 'leaden' footedness. Compared to jones and Smalling (who make Rio Ferdinand look technically poor, thats saying something!), Evans looks like he can't play football.
Physically much weaker than Smalling and Jones, technically doesn't even come far (never mind close!), mentally fragile but I think he'll be a good squad player long term

In the first couple of games his distribution has been great but that one throw for Young to storm at the heart of Spurs had me all misty eyed for the United of my youth.
You given up on SW?
I stopped reading after the word 'so'!
Did i miss much?

Bad luck, you missed the bit where we praised your heroes for their emphatic display at the Emirates
De Gea 8 was very good IMO
Considering the stick he's had he's only 20 FFS !!

ooooooo, i 'll read it then!
All I know and care about regarding De Gea is this. He has made 5 apperances in all for us (competitive and non-competitive) and we have won 5 games. 100% win record
I couldn't have summarised it better. (Y)
pah! I'll never get that minute back...
