Lets speak frankly about last nights game. we were OK for a good chunk of the game. But this isnt under 13s football. The game lasts more than an hour.
The same problems of last season are still plain to see. Knocking it around in midfield going nowhere looks good, but is pointless if we eventually give it away in poor areas and create no chances. We had no cutting edge at all... that game was made for Lennon and Bale.. it was SO open.
Our defending was pee poor as usual, despite having a very sturdy Friedel behind us.
We were playing a hugley patched up Man United outfit, which was the second youngest team they have ever fielded in the prem... and we got thoroughly bossed.
People will no doubt point to our CMs, who were clearly not good enough in that position to play at OT.
We are still soft as a little petal, no crunching tackles, rolling over and taking stupid decisions.. such as when Bale was fouled on the edge of the area and ref gave a GK... noone kicked up a fuss. far too nice.
here are my ratings
friedel 8 - top saves, very happy
walker - was playing whilst unwell 5
corluka 5
dawson 5
kaboul 6
bae 6
lennon 4 - what was he up to with that great chance to cut back... has he been watching too much theo walcott?
bale 5 - did nothing of note
livermore 7 - impressed with the young lad, just had no help
niko - 4 gave it away for fun
hudd 5 not enough time to make a real impact
vdv 6 - wasted possession, poor set pieces, silly shots, but plenty of effort and hunger.
defoe - 5, PLEASE SHOOT
pav 5 not enough time to make impact.
back to the drawing board for city, hopefully with a couple of new players. that defence if we play like that will get torn apart by david silva.
on positive note, i must be top of the predictor league
A Poor result, and a poor performance

Obviously you are, I would never doubt it
One thing of noteable comment about last night though is you know that you are drunk if you start texting 606 smileys to someone who doesnt use 606

Last nigt confirmed what I've been saying about Bale and Lennon for ages. They are both overrated. They both have bags of pace, but both the Man Utd fullbacks showed them inside which made them pretty much useless last night. Bale and Lennon are only dangerous when they get beyond the fullback and use their pace and Man Utd dealt with the easily. Neither of them are intelligent footballers, particularly Lennon, which is why when they were both pretty useless last night when the coldnt use their main asset: pace.
I think we also saw that VDV cannot play in that hole unless he's played with Crouch. He and Defoe can't play there together. You definitely need another striker.

Yeh defoe kept dropping back and we had no lone striker at times! We really lacked cutting edge and deserved to lost tbh
