From Gary Neville, to Giggs to Keano, the game they most wanted to win was against Arsenal! Yes Liverpool and City were more of their traditional rivals but that's the game that generation wanted to win the most.
In that sense taking geography out of it United used to be our main rivals! At least for me that's the one game I never wanted to lose along with the Spurs fixture.
Years of not competing in the big games and the comedy at Spurs has left me wondering who are our main rivals? I felt the atmosphere against Spurs probably contributed to us only going away with a point! The crowd wasn't up for it and it all translated to the players.
I actually don't expect United to compete for trophies for some time so I would think at present our main rivals are
Spurs, Chelsea(hate them coćkney baśtards) and City!
By no means am I saying we are in the same league as City and Chelsea but if 3rd is the bare minimum we can accept this season then we should at least aim to stay in touch with them.

I don't really know to be honest. Tottenham and Chelsea you could argue, but isn't really about them, it's about how annoying the fans are. I don't really care for United, Liverpool or City, but their fans can be annoying as well (particularly London based United fans).
I guess the answer is I really don't care about any club other than Arsenal. I won't waste my time disliking another club.

Arsenals rivals have always been Tottenham, to say otherwise is to live in denial of the 120 year history between the two clubs, as Ace says in the past few years the rivalry has never been closer.
