After the lethargic showing of Scottish football this season, the press and some fans alike, have all taken the opportunity to wallow in the mire of need for instant football gratification, in the face of a market that needs time to be nurtured least it implode.
As a football fan first and foremost, I understand clubs go through spells of insecurity, loss and gain on all fronts. This archetypical footballing logic, mirrors life in general.
I don’t pretend to know what players make at my club, or how much we’ve got to spend in an over inflated marketplace.
I’ve heard the stories about other clubs all over Europe and how they can spend more than us even when they bring in less revenue…..Then I’ve watched Sky sports when they’ve been discussing that Man U received £104.8m for TV rights last season and Rangers got £3.6m…and this is before you take into account the sponsorship, merchandise and season tickets.
What I’m pretty sure of though, is that our clubs aren’t going to spend fortunes on established, quality talent. Not in the near future anyway.
Journeymen and potential is our only plan for players at the moment, as far as I can see it. That is why we must qualify for Europe.
If we are to make our league more successful and attractive we need to be in Europe. Players need to develop too and they won’t want to hang about long without European football.
So instead of getting involved in whataboutery I’m firmly hoping that Celtic win against Sion, Rangers beat Maribor and Spurs forget what day they’re supposed to play.
This goes beyond rivalry this week. It’s red alert stages.
For one week only I will be wishing all the teams the best of luck in Europe. Then normal service will be resumed.
Good luck to one and all.
Hail, Hail
Europe a must

Henrik.
That's my point. We both go out this week then in a couple of seasons' time the qualifiers will be earlier and earlier.

bollox, Your prediction is almost correct except you forgot to put the word Celtic into it.
It will be CELTIC 2-0 Sion as you almost suggested. 2-0 for Celts will do nicely, thanks for the vote of confidence bollox.
Seriously anyone with a username like that must be rather dim

Sion are quite dangerous from set pieces, as I understand. So it should all be in Celtic hands!

Thats all fair enough bhoyzilla, but the team you support was trying to join the english league 12 months ago. So dont expect any support from me.

I think we're going out to a defeat or going through on away goals. More than likely out though.
We'll also be throwing away the league unless we bring in a few decent players who can step up to the plate when others are injured.
