VDV - gone but not forgotten

Put up an article about a month ago saying the same thing but as we are so down in the dumps with over this pathetic lot I want to share videos of the great VDV who we miss so much if only this sorry lot had his passion, class and drive then we would be a lot better off. What a player and that Spurs team under harry could of gone onto fantastic things if we would of kept the class like modric and bale but when a giant comes calling like Madrid there's nothing you can do. Anyway enjoy the videos of the superb Rafa who pi sses all over any Spurs player in that side right now and he was barely match fit most games. Makes me happy to think we enjoyed this era but sad to think how much we have regressed.

This is close to the point i've been trying to make over the last few days. We go on about getting fourth and being in the Champions League.

But we tend to forget... Liverpool were a shambles, City were on their way up but weren't what they are now. We had Modric who'd adapted to the league and was playing well. Bale had turned his career around and was turning into a class player. Yet we only managed fourth.

Now we have younger players in the likes of Eriksen and Lamela who are going to be inconsistent for the next year or so. But we've been judging the club on two good seasons when we had players approaching their prime and when other clubs were a mess.

i am in the minority but i would rather watch 11 players who love playing for spurs, with less ability, than watching 11 high class players who couldn't give a shiiiit.

-------

Vdv clearly gave a shiiiit, as did Bale as do most. If you're talking about players that only want to play for spurs then you'd never have any greats. You're kidding yourself if you think any player over the last 25 years would have turned down Madrid if they'd come knocking.

-----

i agree with your point… which makes me think that you missed the point i was making..

Is eriksen still any good?

VDV, Modric and Bale served Spurs very well, but it was inevitable when Real Madrid came along waving Euros that required Bin Wagons to carry them around that the later two would go, and I wish them well. In the case of VDV he wanted to go and in fairness Levy didn't stand in his way. All three entertained us and we can but hope that we find someone of their calibre some time soon....PLEASE.
