Have things really changed that much??

Now i know that when an article starts with "I am not a wum" the first thing you can assume is that the person is a wum. But bare with me as this really is not an attempt a wumming.

There has been a lot of talk recently that the "big 4" or "sky 4" or whatever you want to call them has changed and that at the expense of Liverpool either Manchester City or Spurs have taken their place. Some others would argue that it is now a "big 6". What are your feelings on this? When the fixture list come out what are the first games you look for? Which games regardless of their importance to you league position do you most want to win and cant stand to lose?

From my part I never really bought into the "big 4" thing, yes I can understand where it came from and its hard to argue the logic but and again not wumming they weren't necessarily the games I look/looked for. Yes the biggest game for me will always be United home and away (I think that is a given) but Chelsea for example has only been a recent thing and bar a few games most notably them beating us 4-2 in 97 fa cup, the games never really seemed that good. Another game i normally look for is Newcastle, always great banter and rarely a bad game. But now and for the last maybe 10 seasons I have aways looked for the Man utd, Chelsea and Arsenal games.

I have always watched football for it's potential to entertain me. So watching the game for 40-odd years has taught me to look for Chelsea and Spurs as the the teams most likely to be opponents that help create an exciting game.

They have, for many years, come to OT littered with technically gifted players and a great attitude to the game.

Two other teams that have often fitted into this category are WHU and NUFC.

As for looking at the fixture list at the beginning of the season. I usually look for the games against the previous season's champion first, then LFC for reasons of rivalry, and then the teams mentioned above for entertainment reasons.

Arsenal have nearly always bored me in all that time - whoever has been in charge - and, over the years, have tended to offer (in one form or another) very one-dimensional football i.e. (and in no particular order) ordinary, defensive, physical, 'tippy-tappy' undisciplined and to make things worse they have had more than their proportionate share of 'simulators'.
