I have seen so many people comment on Herrera walking back into team. One thing I think people are considering is the importance of morale. Fellini came in and did a good job when we needed him to. He was one of our only fit midfielders. Imagine he got dropped as soon as somebody returned. What would happen the next time we needed him..: would he step up! Herrera came on against hull played well why because he was motivated! I think lvg is starting to use his squad really well.

"This Fellaini v Herrera yawnathon will go on for a long time, I feel."
I'm not convinced it's the right comparison anyway. With everyone fit, I would have thought it would be herrera or mata.

Didnt herrerra walk back into the team but was subbed due to a terrible performance?
Am sure fellaini got his chance as he came on and did better and has done since.
Better individual doesnt mean better for the team. Rvp is better than welbeck but welbeck and rooney was often better

Herrera's a bit more physical than Mata, Melts. He can actually put himself about a bit, they're not really that similar. Mata does all his best work just behind the strikers and can run though them, I think Herrera's going to make us tick from a bit deeper.

Terrible performance due to being rushed back from injury. Herrera is the best we have and he has shown glimpses of what he is capable of.

Scholay- i accept that mate and i said it was too soon before the game. But fellaini has added something that wasnt there. May just be the extra ariel threat or something
I agree herrera is better player, may just need adjustment time and we cant give it due to a poor start etc

He could post, particularly against teams like hull where you will have most of the ball and can be attacking. I'm just not sure against the better teams, I would play herrera but push him up and play two midfielders behind.
You do have very good options in midfield now, it's all about getting the balance right depending on the opponent now.

Don't forget that Herrera only got his chance because Di Maria got injured on Saturday, so it was more by chance than anything else that he got a lot of game time. At the moment, it seems in LVG's eyes that Fellaini is always a starter. However, with both Blind and Di Maria out, it would seem that we will start tomorrow's game with Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, Mata, Rooney and RVP, and you would really expect them to produce at home against Stoke.
Of course LVG may want to freshen things up and give either Januzaj or Young a start, and no doubt that Falcao will get some game time also. But these are nice problems to have.

Fair point Melts, you're much more of a student of the game than I'll ever be! I just like a high tempo and a bit of excitement for my money.

OP.... Would you let Di Maria walk back into the team if, say, Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini and Valencia put a decent couple of performances in?

Post,
I may be a student but I'm not a very good one!
It's the United way to play with high tempo, I'm not surprised you want that. High scoring games, absolutely go for it!
