Here is my opinion of how our players performed last night, please share your views.
Ratings:
Reina - 6 Looked comfortable and no chance with the penalty.
Flanagan - 6 Played ok, nothing special.
Robinson - 7 Looked tidy on the ball and supported Maxi well.
Skrtel - 5 Not really called upon much but when he was he gave away a penalty.
Wilson - 7 Good game from Wilson, one of his best for the club.
Henderson - 3 Gave the ball away repeatedly and got booked for diving.
Adam - 6 Some decent set pieces early on but drifted out the game.
Spearing - 6 Didn't really get involved but didn't really have to.
Meireles - 6 Looked threatening before going off injured.
Maxi - 7 Kept the ball moving and took his goal well.
Suarez - 9 By far the most dangerous player on the field, had a hand in all 3 goals.
Subs:
Carroll - 5 Scored but looked very sloppy otherwise.
Downing - 7 Added pace and width down the right when he came on.
Shelvey - 5 Game was over by the time he came on.

Interesting. Why is Spearing playing for Liverpool and you aren't?
----------------
There are plenty of would-be footballers who don't get the chances some pretty average footballers get, but that is besides the point.
I get the impression you are a big advocate of the worker engine type players from your posts, which is all well and good if you want a mid table team, but when you want to be around the top you really need players who can do more than just the basics, and Spearing is really not one of them.
Someone like Kuyt for example is know for his work ethic but he can also bring a lot more to the table. Lucas is slowly starting to show this, although he is never going to surpass the likes of Mascherano. Spearing though clearly doesn't have it.

lol one is one of the best tackling defensive midfielders in the world who reads the game immensely, whilst the other just has the name Spearing.

good to see Wilson get run would like to see him as holding mid. Spearing, when you have a player as small as him he has to have
exceptional talent , which he does not,let him go to Tranmere,Shelvey will never be good enough,Wilson should start before him every time.

shelvey is more of an attacking midfielder...wilson is an out and out centre half. also, just because he is good with the ball at his feet it doesnt mean he can play as a holding midfielder

mascherano is just name brand, when you actually scrutinize his ability you will see that there is not much difference from him and jay spearing, he cant pass or get foward all he can do is break up play and tackle ... just like jay spearing

I would score Pepe an 8 for that fame.

I'm sorry but that's balls, Mascherano is the best tackler the Premier League saw since Makelele. I doubt Spearing could keep Ronaldo in his pocket the way Masch used to.
