Most goals from Midfield in 2014

Excluding penalties

12 Christian Eriksen
11 Juan Mata
10 Yaya Toure
9 Raheem Sterling
9 Kevin Mirallas

Was actually surprised about this but shows what a big player Eriksen has been for us in 2014.

Giving or receiving?

Good goals tally but lets not pretend he's been pulling up trees every week. Massively goes missing in big games.

Eriksen's scoring record does flatter his performances a lot but it's massive to have midfielders who can score. It's why I have no time for those that denigrate Lampard as a player. Oh, and Alexis' 15 goals should count. He's as much a midfielder as Eriksen.

Alexis' record of course didn't include his Barca time. That would put him around 25 goals for 2014.

I don't think you'll get many that think Eriksen is at this present time, better than Sanchez.

Eriksen at 22 is only going to keep improving. He can have quiet games sometimes but is that rare breed of footballer... a match winner. £11.5mil for him was very good business.

I always find stats like this pointless.

If you add three variables it can be twisted to suit most players in the league.
