Valencia

Finally getting over the joys of the weekend and catching up on all the articles from the pundits etc and weirdly not many people are giving Valencia the MOM against LFC??

I mean sure De Gea had a blinder and rightly got it but a lot of people are talking about how good Carrick was, really??? If he was so great why did LFC get so many shots of against DDG? He was better than the rest of the CB's but I wouldn't say he was a stand out performer on Sunday.

Valencia on the other hand in the first half especially ripped LFC a new one and this was his best game in about 3 seasons! He was all of a sudden quick as before he was actually able to make a decent run and beat his man and though he didn't make many crosses into the box the passes/crosses he did make had some bite behind them.

I would say DDG MOM with Tony a close co-MOM

With Valencia, I have never been so disappointed in a player - perpetual drop in form!!!

Since the No.7 shirt was handed to him, the only way has been down. He turn from exciting winger with blistering pace to a low-confidence ditherer!

get the ball,
wait,
dribble,
check back,
attempt to cross,
dither;
get half a yard,
wait,
lose the half a yard;
ride a tackle,
cross now?
no - let's dither some more,
and blast the ball against the marking fullback.

No to mention that the rebound brushes against him and goes out for a throw against Manutd.

The only good thing Valencia did was his assist for Rooneys goal and a run out of defence where he got past 3 Liverpool players.
Everything else was average / terrible.

How lucky we were that Moreno is crap, he was in behind and Valencia had no idea about it, lucky for us, he has a touch worse than Fellainis.

This.

Valencia's performance, like Fellaini's is being overrated on this board; so much so, that i am questioning my own usually excellent eyesight!

After profound contemplation, i am even more convinced that most are wrong and Fellaini and Valencia did not indeed put out stellar performances as many here suggest.

Valencia improved, he won the ball more often, recovered from the mistakes he did make and for once put 3/4 dangerous crosses in.

He has his limitation, I said that even at his best, but he was much improved vs Liverpool.

Felliani didn't have a good game last couple he has been giving away the ball to easily...yet he has 'presence'.....what ever that is? Ball in the air you might feel glad he is near.

Fellani was average on Sunday. He had a few decent tackles in the secon half but nothing you wouldn't expect from a 27m player.

Personally I think he is still a total flop. For a player that cost 27m I expect a MOM performance every 3/4 games from him. Anything less is a joke for the price.

27 m was a fackup and a real mix up, I think. Moyes was really after Baines, that's where he wanted to put the money, but it didn't work out. (Fellaini just being the teachers pet!

No idea why anyone would suggest that Fellaini was any good on Sunday. He wasn't.

Valencia was OK, nothing special.

He had a far better 1st half then 2nd

After Valencias assist, I thought oh maybe he is actually starting to think before crossing now.
10 minutes later he smashed a cross to the opposite side of the pitch.

He was better than he has been for the past 3 years, which to be honest, is not hard at all, but he was still a very very average player on Sunday.

Fellaini, dreadful in the first half, improved in the second which wasn't hard, he couldn't have played worse than he did in the first half.

He's done ok of late playing at RB/RWB, particularly defensively.

As an attacker however, he's still an immensely frustrating player to watch. He was to his credit a bit better than usual on Sunday but Liverpool didn't exactly make it difficult for him.

Hopefully Rafael will be back for Villa because he is a considerably better attacking force than Valencia is. It shoudn't be underestimated how much Rafael adds to our attack.
