So we are at the half way mark of young Danny's first season as an Arsenal player and I wanted to gauge gooners reactions...
Was he worth the 16 million?
Whenever I have seen him play (not much admittedly) I can't help thinking Arsene could have spent the money wiser. His first touch and control is a joke, his finishing is a joke. About the only good attribute he has is pace which occasionally get's him into positions where even he can't miss.
What's your thoughts?
Danny Welbeck

Welbeck as a wing forward... Terrible. That's the player United were happy to let go.
Im disappointed because i thought he'd be given more of an opportunity to be our main man, the Centre Forward. This hasn't happened and now my dislike for him as a player means i wouldn't even trust him as a CF.
He has gone sideways, just the same old half decent wide forward that he was last year.

Fergie probably had a better record with strikers and he still couldn't hit a barn door.
Welbeck is hard working and committed but he's just not a particularly gifted footballer and cannot shoot for shiiiit.
Seems to do well for England, though, so I'm happy with that.

What do you mean this hasn't happened?
How many games has Welbeck payed up front prior to Giroud return?
And even now that Giroud is back, they both switching spot during the game...

Lets be honest Arsenal have been go awful during his whole career here. Lets see what he does when we are on form.
He has been one of our best performers through this abysmal run.

Exactly how I see Welbeck's role at Arsenal. I knew when we bought Welbeck he wouldnt replace Giroud easily. People laughed at me and call me a fan boy.
I see it like Wenger...Giroud alone upfront didnt work the whole long season. It made us predictable even smaller team know how to grind out points.
Welbeck has different abilities to Giroud its obvious. I like him and I think he will come good. Still young and can improve some aspects of his game.
Also believe in some games we should play one or the other. More variation upfront is good.

Just like Walcott, Welbeck will improve. He just needs to improve his finishing; he already has the pace and movement suitable for the position.

Sometimes I just don't f...... believe some Arsenal fans! Welbeck hasn't even played for a season and we are already judging him. For a new team he has tried, and as already noted above he is 23 and is likely to improve with more games and better understanding of his teammates and team style of play. And for those still harping on Giroud, he scored 17 goals in his first season-very decent return for a player form a totally different league, Last season he scored 22, a good improvement on his previous season, and now in 10 games in which he was a sub in two he has scored 6, that by any standard is good. The previous season people moaned when Arsene didn't buy 33ml Soldado and this season moaned again and again for missing out on a 45 mln Falcao (I haven't been following the two but it is fair to assume both Soldado and Falcao are setting the premier league alight aren't they dear moaners?

We needed him or just someone when Giroud got injured but can't see him lasting long at Arsenal unless he's happy to be a sub and play on the left regularly. He has nowhere near the ability to be first choice for Arsenal.

As in i thought he would replace Giroud in the starting XI. When everyone is fit that isn't the case. I wanna see Sanchez - Welbeck - Theo
