Can't compete?

It's a load of bs to say we can't compete. Ok, so we lost Luis and we needed to replace him. We're hear that there was money to spend on top of the £70m.

So, why did we not go after 2 or 3 £40-£50m players to take us up that level.

I'm sick of the f'kin poundstretcher mentality

"As TOOR rightly said, the likes of Aguero and Toure didn't sign for City because they were offered huge wages. They signed because they were offered huge wages AND they knew there would be other Aguero's and Toure's to come. The spending wasn't going to end there."

Exactly and this is what some people can't seem to comprehend. They say we can easily sign these top players if we offer them the big wages that the likes of Chelsea and City offer but that's simply not true, they need to know that there's others to follow. Of course that isn't needed now as others have followed and they've now established themselves as top clubs who are competing for trophies and thus they don't need to convince them by other players to come, they're already there.

Why any Rodgers attract/retain the best?

Come on, you're brighter than that.

Managers come and go, sure they're important to an extent but the competitiveness is all important. And by competative I mean financial clout and ambition.

Are you telling me Liverpool don't have the financial clout and ambition?

Of course they do but its all relative isn't it.

Do they have the financial clout and ambition to match the likes of City, Utd, Chelsea, Real (i.e the clubs that buy the 50-60m esk players)? No, unfortunately they don't because it's not about buying one or even two, it's about buying as many as is necessary. We can't do that.

We're 3rd tier financially

Even if we wanted to have more financial ambition, Ffp banned it. Competition with the top tiers has been outlawedf

3rd? Top tier is pretty obvious but I'm interested to know who you think is 2nd.

Given the Deliotte table showed us as 12th in terms of revenue, without CL football, it gives an indication of the size of our club. We can't compete with the massive sides but there aren't many beyond that.

Real barca and now under Ffp, united are the top tier. All 3 could afford 80mil+ players

Then Chelsea city arsenal and a pile of foreign clubs in the second tier

The us

But Liverpool missed out on established players in the £20m bracket and have gone out and paid on unproven players for r similar amounts?

Plus the massive deals and global sponsorship of LFC should allow for you to compete at least with Arsenal

Arsenal have a fair bit more revenue than us, are a cl side, in London and their stadium is paid for

They're in a different tier now

We missed out on players in the 28-35mil bracket and ended up buying mainly in the 10-20mil range

Completely different price bracket

Think the stadium construction will take up some of the revenue, but at £150m should free up more cash than a £450m white elephant.

Think Markovic and Can will be excellent players for us.

We wanted Mkhitaryan and Costa in the pre season before last. Neither wanted to come as we weren't in the champions league.
