so chelsea spend £120 odd mill in 2 windows and thats perfectly acceptable.
mancity ... nuff said.
and liverpool spend just over a £100 mill recouping alot of the money from player sales yet we are reminded of this every single second from pundits, non liverpool fans etc.
quite unfair if you ask me, i struggle to understand why this is.
DISCUSS!!
LFC unfairly targeted

That's like Bendtner scoring a hat-trick and me claiming on "current form", he's the best player in the world. Even Welbeck in Man U has impressed me more in this short-lived season.

No mrthierry
Suarez was brilliant from january not just one game. He has done it against some of the top defenders in the world.
arsene would sell half his team to have a player of Suarez'z standard.
Unfortunatley you are stuck with Bendtner. Class striker he is

What is it about Liverpool that makes the scousers come out with such daft comments?
Suarez in the top 3 players in the world
Joe Cole better than Messi
Joe Cole himself was proclaiming Andy Carroll better than Drogba about 6 months back

I'd hardly say that Chelseas spending during the Roman years has been seen as acceptable. Its been blamed for inflating the prices fo players, decried as being short-sighted (doing that rather than nurturing young players), of raising Chelsea above what the club is actually capable of sustaining.
Much the same accusation have been flung at Man City since the Shiek (spelling?) took over there. But throwing a lot of money at the team is the only way to get progress at any speed at the moment.
Its all talked about because the amount being thrown around these days is crazy. I'm an admirer of Andy Carrol but I can honestly say I do not think he was worth £35million and he's not the only player whos moved clubs this year who had a ridiculous transfer (in any sane market Torres would not have been worth £50million considering the poor couple of years he's had not to mention the fees commanded for young english players).
Where fans from other clubs are concerned, its largely jealousy, after all who wouldn't wish their club had owners willing to back the manager like NESV hve with Dalglish. As for pundits, its just to create controversy, after all if there's nothing to talk about then they don't have work.

Sorry but why is 50m ridiculous for Torres? He's a proven talent which justifies his fee.
What has Carroll actually done to even warrant a 35m fee.
Why arent Liverpool blamed with inflating the market now for English players. Every English player now, due to Liverpool's willy nilly approach to the market has a starting value of 20m on his head.
Take a look at Henderson. He only broke into the Sunderland team last year. Scored a few goals. BAM! Kenny comes storming in with a 20m bid.
Downing. One full season at Villa. The other he was injured. BAM! Kenny again comes wading in with a £20m cheque
Why arent Liverpool being blamed for inflating transfer fees.
Double standards. Thats why
Also "Where fans from other clubs are concerned, its largely jealousy"
Thats exactly why Liverpool fans were the biggest whingers when we came into the money. Jealousy. They couldnt take it. They still cant to be honest so they keep reminding us of how we're a little club compared to them but we must be doing something right to recieve this special attention from deluded scousers
Not aiming this at you by the way. You've been quite neutral in your post.Reread it a couple of times. Just getting a few issues of my hairy chest thats all

"Why arent Liverpool blamed with inflating the market now for English players. Every English player now, due to Liverpool's willy nilly approach to the market has a starting value of 20m on his head".
2 questions for you;
1) How much did you pay for Shaun Wright Philips?
2) How long ago was it that you paid that price?
You paid a fortune for the likes of SWP years ago, before the new UEFA regulations were even thought about. These new regulations are the reason for the price of English players being so high.
You also fail to mention United paying 16 million and 20 million for Jones and Young, or Villa paying 16 million plus for Bent, in your 'Liverpool are to blame' rant .

@Mr Chelsea
As I said, £50million is ridiculous (in my opinion at least) for a player who has been playing so poorly for as long as Torres has now. I find it hard to see the justification in it being an investment in his proven abilities when he has not displayed those abilities for so long. Maybe he'll come good and I'll be proven wrong (I hope so because I liked Torres as a player when he was doing well) or maybe he'll be like Veron and Man U or Aqualani and 'pool, an expensive transfer who didn't work out, we'll see.
And you know what, I'll not deny that there was a lot of jealousy about the money that Chelsea were able to spend, it always happens and always will. Newcastle spent big on Alan Shearer in the 90's and got flak for it, Leeds spent big to get into the CL (part of the mismanagment which almost killed the club off) and got flak, any time Man U make a big transfer move there's the usual 'they're too big/wealthy/killing football' complaints brought out, more recently its happened to Chelsea and Man City and now Liverpool.
Everyone gets a turn at being the one who's "killing the transfer market" and Liverpool are now starting to get the treatment. Football is not a sport that tends towards rationality from fans or pundits (or players and managers for that matter) :P
