I think this was always going to be gerrards last season with liverpool. With this in mind do pool fans think rodgers was wrong not letting gerrrard start against madrid away this season.

Nowhere does he say it was a factor. In that game many of our best players were rested.

The only factor was what he keeps saying and what people keep ignoring; he wants to play loads of games and Liverpool were offering a reduced role.

How many times does he have to say it before people accept it? Why the need for a conspiracy?

At that time he was playing very well and he knew he'd be playing regularly. As the season has worn on, he has been informed he won't be playing so often. So if Liverpool had offered before anybody knew he wouldn't be playing regularly then he would have signed. Not that any of that has anything to do with the Real Madrid game where many first team players were rested/dropped.

Gerrard is not an idiot, he's the captain with years of experience. He knew what the situation was, it would have hurt him like it hurt us, the fans but we understood. He certainly wouldn't have thought, I'm not signing a contract for this. He doesn't have the mind of Balotelli or Tevez, he thinks about the club.

There is no conspiracy, simply Gerrard doesn't want a bit part role and at his age, when he has only a few years left, one can understand that.

TOOR, I was listening to Danny Murphy on the radio this morning and he suggested that not starting in the Real Madrid game could have been a 'watershed' moment for Gerrard.

I am not sure whether he and Gerrard are good friends and if he might have some inside info on that?
